Is there something decimating the wolf population, Chech?

Yes, humans.  When these wolves wander outside the park, even if they have tracking collars, they can be shot.  Hunters in Montana are allowed to use bait, calls, snares, traps, etc to kill the wolves.  This year alone there were 8 of 20 wolves in this pack killed by hunters.  One pack, Phantom Creek, was completely eliminated.  Others had their alpha wolves killed, causing the pack to disperse.  It's ugly.

Winter is still here in Yellowstone.  Here is today's forecast.  It's snowing now (as it did yesterday).

Yesterday, for an hour, the sun came out and a Black Bear walked past:

McIlroy looks great at the PGA, but Tiger's best years are behind him as his leg continues to bother his play.

I would never thought killing a tagged/managed animal could be legal.  Do they allow it in the name of ranching (keeping cattle safe)?

That's part of it.  But there's a general sense that wolves are dangerous, so the ranchers (and others) kill them.  TYPICAL SCENE: THEY'VE FENCED OFF THEIR PROPERTY, KILLED THE COYOTES, KILLED THE WOLVES, KILLED THE PRAIRIE DOGS, AND THE RANCHER SITS ON HIS PORCH AND SAYS, "I LOVE THE WEST."

It snowed off and on all day Friday, but as typical in Yellowstone, the sun would make an appearance and skies were blue, then more snow.  I walked out to my car yesterday and found 2" of snow on it.  Surprise!

Grizzly family walking along the Lamar River in heavy snow.

Bison just lying and ignoring the light snow.

Bison herd and (distant) 3 grizzlies.  Bison and grizzlies get along about like Jimbo and Nick!

Did the grizzlies ever try to take down on of the bison, or did the bison have too much strength in numbers?

They eat the calves pretty often, but usually when they find an isolated calf (example: soon after birth).  The herd protects them once they join.  Rarely do grizzlies take on an adult bison.

Something is wrong with IMGUR (our photo-hosting app) today.  I did a roundabout to get this pic for CRS:
