The bison calves are taking a hit this week.  This grizzly ate all he could, then lay down to protect the rest.  You can imagine how someone hiking in the sage could walk up on a resting grizzly like this one.  It happens.

It was a BIG BISON DAY.

Chech, my late uncle who was my Dad's only sibling to attend college (chemist), was my big influencer in the ways of science and nature growing up.  He would love the pics you're posting and likely say, "Look at all those beautiful Beefalos."  But he raised cattle and almost never ate beef.  As he would say if asked, "I'm scared I once knew their 'left name.'"

I guess it could've been a sweet sensitivity or the fact that he always had high cholesterol.

WOLF PUPPIES.  This may not look like much to those unfamiliar with wolves in Yellowstone, but THIS IS NEWS.  We counted 9-10 puppies at this den, apparently shared by 2 mothers (wolves 907F and 1276F).  Neither is an alpha of this pack; she is denning a mile away and has 7 pups.  These little guys were born about a month ago.
