A bison gored a 25-year-old woman in Yellowstone National Park.

The bison was walking near a boardwalk at Black Sand Basin, just north of Old Faithful, when the woman approached it on Monday, according to a park statement. She got within 10 feet (3 meters) before the animal gored her and tossed her 10 feet into the air.

The woman from Grove City, Ohio, sustained a puncture wound and other injuries.

Park emergency medical providers responded and transported her via ambulance to a hospital in Idaho.

Park officials say it’s the first reported bison goring this year. The park statement said bison are unpredictable, have injured more people in Yellowstone than any other animal and can run three times faster than humans.

Park regulations require visitors to remain more than 25 yards (23 meters) away from bison. The park statement said two other people were also within 25 yards of the same bison.

She has died, a tragic case.  It's amazing how many people approach too closely to wild animals.

Well, power just came back on, so I have wifi (after 3 days).  We had heavy snow: 6-8" and an avalanche knocked down a line of power poles.  My cabin was cold and dark, but I had plenty of blankets.  The park was open, so I went in and saw amazing wildlife.  Here's a sample of the view:


BTW, the wolf den is between those 2 groups of trees at top of that meadow.

Good morning to all. Hope everybody is doing well today. June makes me and Mrs Dottie 38 years. RTR!

Aloha folks.  I got here on Kauai Wednesday evening around 5:30 local time. LONG trip.  Not much my coworker and I can do since our equipment hasn't arrived yet.  It should be delivered today so Monday we will hit it hard and get it done.  I took him and gave him a tour of the base (Navy) yesterday and then today I took him to the other part of the base that is up on the mountain.  Takes about an hour to drive up there and another hour back down but the view from Makah Ridge is incredible.  We got to see some pheasant while driving up the mountain.  Also saw three wild goats up on the top.  Before we went up the mountain a rooster (chickens are everywhere on the island and they are wild).  He tried to cross the road in front of me but sadly he didn't make it.  FWIW though, he was a very pretty and colorful rooster... May he RIP...

That moose calf is one ugly creature, huh? Course, it's momma and daddy aren't winning no beauty contests either though.
