As a mom of three boys, I avoided reading about this.  I assumed it was child porn which was bad enough.  To see this thread title and read this...I'm just infuriated and deeply saddened.  I want to fricking burn Penn State to the ground.  JoePa, you are too fricking institutionalized if you think Penn State has jurisdiction over the rape of a child.  WTH?Huh??  Clean House.  Burn the Stadium. Cut off his junk.  Concentrate on Basketball.  End of story.  Nasty old men.

I think this is a wonderful post. To the point and full of rage, as it should be. I wish the folks at Penn State had your clear vision of this situation. I think you're right though, Paterno and the whole Penn State football crowd have become institutionalized since most of them have been with Paterno for 30 years or more. He even has a 60 year old son who is a coach on his staff. Incredible. You need to post more, we need your clear-sighted view of things.

I'm almost to the point that I can't even listen to this stuff about Sandusky any more. It is really making more sick and angry as I read more about this disgusting, perverted old man. I have a 4 1/2 year old, and to think about someone doing something like that to him is just beyond what I care to think about. I know we kid on here about the barn and tOSU and others for their run ins with the NCAA, but this is just far beyond anything to do with Cam or Terrell Pryor. This is going to end up the worst scandal in college sports (or maybe even sports in general) history.

Paterno should be placed on administrative leave and fired next week. This is unacceptable.

I am glad this is not our university, I sure remember when a trio of our coaches did things but this is so far out there. Closing the university is that normal for such a thing? I am just sickened about this. These people need prayer above and beyond my explanation. We should hate what happen, and set standards it could never happen anywhere else. Hopefully. RTR!

You know, Ricky. A minister I heard once said the perple who need prayer the most are the hardest to pray for. This is such a true statement. I, like you, as a Christian, find this situation abhorrent and absolutely evil. I cannot wrap my brain around why a grown man would hurt a child in this manner. There is a Bible verse about those who hurt little ones. I wish I could remember it but says it would be better for on these offenders to have a millstone tied around his neck and thrown into the ocean.

“Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!"

Matthew 18:6-7. Sandusky is reaping more woe than his worst nightmares. The damage that he has done to these children may never fully heal. I pity Sandusky because his mind is full of darkness and perversion, but at the same time I loathe him for what he has done to these innocents. But God will be his ultimate judge, and Sandusky will have to answer to Him for these crimes.

You knew it had to happen. The number of victims has increased dramatically.

Fox 29 has learned the number of child-abuse in the Penn State sex-abuse scandal involving ex-coach Jerry Sandusky has more than doubled in the past day, and is closer to 20 victims.

Slideshows: Rally At JoePa's Home | Coach Mobbed By Reporters | Suspects Surrender

There were eight victims named in the grand jury presentment and 40 charges leveled against Sandusky, a long-time assistant to Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno. Paterno was not named in the grand jury finding as violating any laws.

Sources tell Fox 29 since a press conference on Monday, the number of potential victims has more than doubled in the case.

This speaks volumes to me.  They would not let JoePa off the hook if he did something wrong.  Imagine hearing all of the testimony they heard about what happened to those kids.  If I were on that grand jury, and this happened at Alabama under Coach Bryant's watch, I would come out of my seat and beat the #$%@^ out of him myself if he knew about it and looked the other way.  I don't care how many football games or national championships he won.

What about his moral duty to do something as a man? Also, they may have let Paterno slide since he's 84 years old, just me guessing.

Remember grand juries only have to decide if there is enough evidence to go to trial.  It is a different standard than guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.  If there was any evidence that JoePa was involved they would have indicted him on something.

I just can't believe he wouldn't do something if he really understood what was going on.  The fact that he did nothing makes me think he didn't understand what was really happening.

You are ignoring my question. What about his moral duty as a man to do something and not just "report" to his boss and then forget about it?

My only point is this:  we are all speculating about how much or little JoePa knew.  Let's wait until the facts come out and he has a chance to explain himself before we throw him under the bus.  If he knew about this and looked the other way or was negligent in following up on it, I will be the first one in line to punch him in his 84 year old mouth.
