I'm sure they'll find themselves a fine snake oil salesman to come in and have 1 or 2 good years, they'll extend his contract, and then be back in this same predicament 2 or 3 years later.

I give Auburn credit for hiring Allen Greene as their AD.   He's not the general ignorant Auburn homer that the boosters could easily control.   They had several of those before him.

Harsin certainly isn't a homerun hire, but they likely didn't want to spend homerun money based on the candidates mentioned.   Harsin is a good coach, but it remains to be seen if he can assemble a quality staff that can recruit the southeast.   That's based both on the budget Auburn gives him and the amount of trust any established asst coach from the SE would put in his tenure.
