ESPN 3 is airing it. I'm watching on my Fire Stick.

Bama gets ASU in order in the T5. Fouts getting stronger. Still 7-4 Bama.

3 up, 3 down for ASU in the top of the 6th. Two of the outs by strike out. Fouts is smoking them now. I think she has 11 strike outs currently.

Fouts dodged a bullet (really it was a broken bat) in the top of the 7th...

Bama wins 7-4. Fouts pitched an absolute masterpiece from the 3rd inning on. Congrats, ladies!  Applause E-Cred Applause E-Cred Applause E-Cred

Click here to read and watch what happened to the Auburn softball pitcher. She got hit in the forehead by  a hit ball.  She sustained a concussion and will not pitch again in the regional tourney... Thankfully she will be fine otherwise...

IMO, ALL softball infielders should be required to wear face masks.  However, I'm not sure one would have helped her in this particular play...

Seems a bit extreme.  Should all baseball infielders also be required to wear face masks?

I've seen this type of injury, though worse, in baseball.

Certainly baseballs are harder, travel faster and can do more damage than a softball.

The only thing different about softball is the pitcher is substantially closer to the batter than in baseball.  Perhaps they could move the pitcher back, or the pitcher can wear a face mask.  Many softball pitchers do wear face masks -- it is optional, not mandatory.

Yeah, it probably is a bit extreme.  However, many leagues for kids are starting to require masks for infielders.  It is just a matter of time before they progress upward to middle school, high school, college, etc.  FTR, I would not oppose masks for infielders in baseball either. But the rubber in softball is at 43 feet (baseball is 60' I believe) and the bases are at 60' as opposed to 90' in baseball. Significant differences IMO...

Bama wins a wild one in the Tuscaloosa Regional 9-8 over Arizona St. Bama was down 5-0 and came back scoring 5 in the 5th to tie the game. We got 3 more in the 6th but gave up 3 runs in the bottom half of the inning. Bama got a run in the top half of the 7th and that help up after a brief rain delay.

We will host the winner of the Austin Regional either Texas or Houston.
