Red Sox win again and clinch division title. They are in good position to also get best record in the AL which will give them home field advantage.

I would be surprised if the Sox didn't win the AL this year, and perhaps the WS. Down the stretch their staff has been much better than Detroit, and they can hit against anyone.

Well ricky, I hate to throw in the towel, but since the O's lost today, I think both of us will be pulling for someone else in the playoffs. I think Tampa may have driven the final nail in the coffin, unless an absolute miracle happens.  Sad  At least the Braves will be in there.

I agree. One thing I can say thought is that in the last 2 years they have improved a lot. RTR!

I agree. It has been nice to talk about the O's in meaningful games in September again. Hopefully this wasn't too much of a step back this year and that Buck can get the guys going again next season.

The Red Sox honor Carl Yastrzemski with a statue at Fenway Park. Yaz was one of my childhood favorites and one reason I am a Red Sox fan today.

Quote
Boston, MA, September 22, 2013- The Boston Red Sox payed tribute to Carl Yastrzemski by creating and unveiling a statue of the hall of fame left fielder on September 22, 2013 at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts. The statue will capture a moment that took place on Sunday, October 2, 1983, when the lifelong Red Sox star tipped his helmet to fans at Fenway Park before the final at-bat of his 23-year career.

What a great player he was. Won the triple crown in 1969, I think it was.

Yaz was a great player. He won the Triple Crown in 1967 and led the Sox to the World Series against the Cardinals. He won the AL batting title in 1968 with a .301 batting average, the lowest ever for a batting title. 1968 was the Year of the Pitcher.

He was a great player. He had a career .285 BA with 3,419 hits, 452 HR and 1,844 RBI. He was an 18 time All-Star, 7 Gold Gloves and member of the Baseball Hall of Fame.  The Red Sox retired his # 8.

I sure hope the Braves pick it up in the play offs. The reason is the Reds and Pirates are going to be hungry. Then down the road if we win the divisional game we will probably get the Dodgers in NLCS. They are hot and very tough all way around this year. RTR!

MLB raised the pitchers mound from 1963 to 1968 which gave pitchers a big advantage. Pitching was so strong in 1967 and 1968 that MLB lowered the mound in 1969.
