I guess they were happy with no hitting last year, because they have the same this year.

All I can remember from the offseason is Wren saying that they were pleased with the staff they had and that all they needed was for everyone to be healthy. Well, except for Chipper, that is true and they still are stinking it up. They needed to make some move to get another big hitter, and they didn't do anything.

This is going to be a replay of the Bobby Cox years. Very good pitching &poor hitting, especially clutch hitting. The Braves pour all their resources into finding pitching for the minors. I understand that, but we have to have some hitting and the Braves have made maybe one major move in 20 years for a power hitter and that was for Fred McGriff. Every other hitter they have traded for or signed has been either over-the-hill, erratic as a hitter, or a bust. They need a couple of clutch hitting batters in the worst way. Let's hope gys like Freeman, Heyward, McCann, Uggla, & Prado can take off and make some noise.

If you keep doing (or keep the same people) the same thing over and over again, you will get the same results or worse. The Braves could end up being bottom dwellers this year.

The Braves did make a trade, ill advised imho, for Mark Texaira a few years back but they seem content to struggle along with good pitching & no offense. I think it catches up with them this year and they sink close to the bottom. Fredi Gonzales seems lost as manager and I expect him to be fired at the end of the year.

2/162

2 runs/ 18 innings.

You are correct that it's only the 2nd game of 162, but I don't see anything they have offensively to show much improvement from where they are currently. I truly hope they prove me wrong. I fear they won't.

I'm with you.  I guess I'm just hoping they'll come alive.  When I look at the facts though, this season doesn't look that great.  I'm  a bit confused as to why the management didn't make moves to improve offensive production.

I don't think I have ever seen a professional team play defense as bad as what the Braves did in the inning they gave up Houston's first three runs. The Braves are worse than what they were when the season ended last year.

Boy, this is starting to look like the teams from the mid-late 1980s. That was some of the worst defense I have ever seen (although some guys blamed it on the field at the old Fulton County Stadium). They have lost to two teams that aren't exactly the 1961 Yankees. The Mets are bad, and so are the Astros, and yet both have owned the Braves thus far.
