The Braves are leading the Cards 5-2 with 2 out in the bottom of the 8th. Mike Minor pitched 7 strong innings and left with a 5-1 lead. Come on bullpen.

Excellent!

Braves win 5-2, Craig Kimbrell got the save. This win was big because they had lost 3 in a row.

The Nats lost today so the Braves move 13 games ahead of them with 32 games left to play in the regular season.

It looks like 20 games to win to lock down the division I think. RTR!

The Braves beat Cleveland tonight 2-0. All of these injuries could end up making the Braves a very tough team to bet in the playoffs, providing some of the injured make it back.

You gotta love the fact that the pitching shut out the Indians tonight. You're right, though, we need people to get healthy, because the lumber hasn't exactly been rocking lately.

The Braves had a whopping 3 hits. Fortunately, one was a triple with 2 on base.

I think that is the big difference in the team this year. They are winning those games where the hitting doesn't show up with some good pitching and then they are winning those games when the pitching isn't at it's best with some good hitting also. This is a Braves team that we aren't used to seeing.

Good points, J.
SIAP.  I heard yesterday that Heyward's surgery went well.  They didn't have to wire his mouth shut, meaning he can get adequate nutrition while healing.  No word on how long before he returns, but speculation was that he'll take a while to get his swing back; complicated swing that he'd finally gotten to work before the injury.  He should be back before playoffs.

That is good news on Heyward. It was a shame that this happened to him, he had really embraced the role of batting leadoff and had become the leader of the Braves. It wouldn't surprise me at all that he is swinging a bat, under watchful eyes, every day.

I'll gladly let him borrow it.  This thing is hot, and it's getting a bit smelly in here.

Well. I guess so. You've had it on since at least the TideSprotz days.

The Braves give up a run in the top of the 8th and the game is now tied 2-2. Dan Uggla is back in the lineup after undergoing eye surgery to help his vision. He has batted three times, walked once and struck out the other two times. The Braves still aren't having much luck hitting the Indians pitching, 6 hits tonight after 3 last night.
