Not only can UA Basketball recruit form out of state, they can recruit internationally as well.

I'm talking about your 4 and 5 * type. Sure they can get 1 and 2 * players from out of state nobody wants.  They need to be able to go to other states and get those high quality players.  Who cares if they pull a guy form 5 states over if the guy sucks and rides the pine?
You are overgeneralizing trying to make an invalid point.  Some of the best players to ever play basketball at Bama in the last few decades were not from Alabama, including:

Mo Williams

Antonio McDyess

On the current roster, there are several four star players who are not from Alabama, including Releford, Jacobs, Hankerson, and Tony Mitchell.  These were all highly-sought recruits out of H.S.

The international guys like Gueye and Engstrom don't have star ratings since they didn't play HS basketball in the U.S., but I wouldn't discount them just yet.

Good points. I really think Engstrom can be a starter at center for us. Plus, I think Grant has showed he can keep our own in-state talent at Bama, which is a huge change from Gottfried. If we keep our own guys here, then pick up a hot recruit out of Mississippi and Georgia, we will be doing fine in the recruiting warsI think we will see Grant even pick up a recruit or two from around the country, especially if we start winning and going to the NCAA every year.

Yes, Georgia and Mississippi seem to be the two states where Alabama has made the most recruiting inroads.  A few players over the years from Tn.  And Grant has some connections in South Florida from his early days, with Bama in the running from some talent from there for next year.

Keeping the Bama talent at home is one of Grant's biggest recruiting accomplishments last year, players like Lacey and Randolph, and will remain the heart of Bama's team.
