No. 2 Bama Softball Heads to the SEC/ACC/Big XII Challenge

The No. 2 ranked Alabama softball team returns to the diamond this weekend with four games in three days as part of the SEC/ACC/BIG XII Challenge in Auburn, Ala. The Crimson Tide will open tournament play on Friday evening against No. 23 Georgia Tech of the ACC at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday, the Tide will play two games, opening with ACC foe Virginia Tech at 10 a.m., and finishing the day against 2011 WCWS participant and fourth ranked Oklahoma of the Big XII at 12:30 p.m. Alabama will conclude tournament play on Sunday against another ranked Big XII foe and 2011 WCWS participant, No. 15 Oklahoma State at 9 a.m.

I hear OSU is whining because they think they should be ranked #14.

The two Oklahoma teams will be a big test for the Tide, they have very good programs. Ok State should find out where they should be ranked after this weekend.

I think OSU's coach should have Gundy on speed dial to learn how to rant properly after the butt whipping Bama hands them.

This is a very good tournament. We will see good teams that will help us get prepared for the SEC schedule. I look forward to seeing how we play. We cruised through the tourament last weekend but this is a much tougher field.

After 2 innings Bama leads GT 6-3. Bama coming to bat in the top of the 3rd.

Bama finally gets GT out in the 3rd inning. GT gets 4 runs and leads 7-6.

Bama ties it in top of 5th 7-7.

Traina is having a bad night. She has given up 10 hits and the one error is a throwing error by her.

We need the bats to bail her out tonight.

Locke hits a 2 run HR to give Bama a 9-7 lead. Bama still batting in the 6th.

Bama up 11-7 in the 7th.

Bama wins 12-9. We played bad and gave up too many runs but it is a win. We play Va Tech tomorrow at 10:00AM.

I was listening to the broadcast on my way home and the announcers said that Traina had been sick the whole game which might be some of the reason that she struggled so much tonight. It wasn't pretty but it was a good win against a ranked team which beat Arizona St last week out there.

Alabama is playing VA Tech this morning in their second game of the tourny. We are winning 6-3 with VT batting in the top of the 6th. Jury is pitching for Bama.

Alabama beats VT 7-3. Jury pitched a good game. She gave up 3 runs on 2 hits but Bama had 4 errors. Spencer came in to pitch the 7th and gave up 1 hit and 0 runs.

Alabama plays Oklahoma State tomorrow at 9:00AM.
