Who was more startled when the wolf passed you, Chech?

Wow! That's quite a hibernation period for the ground squirrels.

June 6, 2020 Saturday.

This is a yearling gray wolf, number 1228F (female).  She's beautiful, and I haven't been able to get an adequate photo.  Today she got within a mile of us.  She's got a VHS collar.

Saw this group of Bighorns, all rams, from almost 2 miles away.  Photo through my scope.  Couple of these would be award winners.

Big Boy resting beside Slough Creek.

I know you boys like bears, so I took photos of some, despite being too far away for a quality shot.  Cinnamon Black Bear, a biggie.

Really big Black Bear really really far away.

You ARE getting pretty good at taking pics through your telescope.

This past week my dad gave me his camera.  It is a Canon EOS 70D.  I  will have to learn how to properly use it but once I do I plan to get a lens that will take quality pics from a long ways away...

June 7, 2020.  Sunday.

It started snowing late today, so I got back to the cabin earlier than usual.  Tomorrow looks iffy for driving; snowing all day 4-6".

Today started at 5am along Slough Creek.  By 5:15 we'd found a line of wolves headed for the creek.  They got there, and some bedded.  Others explored along the shore.  After a few minutes they began to howl (photo).  Too dark for anything decent in photos, but at least I captured it for y'all.

Later during light rain we saw a Black Bear and cub across the creek about 1.5 miles away.  We watched them for quite a while as they moved north.

I did.

But the coyotes didn't like it.  They answered with yips and yaps.

Hey Chech, how often to the wolves interact with bears?  Also, when this happens, what is the typical outcome?
