No details, but reportedly Isaiah Buggs was at practice yesterday.

Hope he's well enough to participate effectively.

Do your thing, Preacher.

 Pray

I wasn’t able to participate in the in-game thread Saturday, why wasn’t a penalty called on the lineman that dove at Buggs’ knee? That was dirty.

It's fairly dirty because it was well away from the play, but it's not illegal to cut block in many situations.

I don’t know enough about the mechanics and rules of football to know if it was legal or not, I just know I saw a guy dive to the ground as soon as the ball was snapped. What else is he going to do but hit someone in the knees or feet at great risk of injury?

Tuesday before SECCG:

-- Terrell Lewis was again out there practicing with the outside linebackers. He was in a crimson jersey signifying full-contact clearance ... A large brace provided protection on his injured knee. It’s ... not clear if he will be playing Saturday against Georgia.

-- Defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs was practicing after hyperextending his knee against Auburn. There wasn’t a good view ... but he looked to be participating in a crimson jersey.

What a bonus that would be if they could both play.  Pray

I'm guessing Lewis gets in, if only for a few plays.  He's prolly eager to get back, and the new redshirt rule makes his return moot.  Buggs will likely start (unless Saban has bamboozled us again).

If he plays, I think it will be 8-12 situational third downs.

TL will be on fire if he gets to come in. You know the crowd will go wild and Georgia will try him out first. RTR!

Heard on the radio today that there have been 179 targeting penalties this year.  Last season (2017) there were also 179 targeting penalties, exactly the same number (same week of play).

No word on how many replays dismissed erroneous calls.  But the number of targeting penalties is not higher, as it seems to most everyone.  And apparently we're not yet protecting players by reducing the number of hits (with just 2 data points).

There seem to be more reversals this year, but I might be wrong.   Huh?

I think you're right.  But I'm okay with them reviewing the hits to avoid any unwarranted punishment.

BTW, I also heard discussion of why "players must leave the field of play" after targeting.  It seems like ridicule and unnecessary parading of the accused (as they leave under escort).  The only reason they're forced to leave seems to be "to avoid any retaliation".  I doubt there's ever been any retaliation, and staying on the sidelines wouldn't likely affect the play going forward.

You can't stay on the bench/sideline in any sport after ejection.

This targeting thing is getting out of hand on other than QB's. This football and we was knocking heads in practice to get ready to knock heads in games. I don't understand this except the QB situation. RTR!
