Quote
Whatever conference Team No. 14 comes from, that league would probably have to react. And if the SEC becomes the first major league to expand to 14 members, there will be pressure on the Big Ten and the Pacific-12, which have 12 each, to grow.

As for when Texas A&M will move, the probable answer is soon but not imminent. If it were to join the SEC for the 2012-13 academic year, it would have to make the move by early fall in order for the move to be logistically feasible.

A high-ranking SEC official said he did not expect any movement on Texas A&M within the next week, because he said the university was busy working out the legal issues involved with leaving the Big 12.

“They have to unencumber themselves from the Big 12,” the official said.

“I think it’s a matter of timing and substance,” the SEC official said. “Who is it and when is it done? I don’t think the SEC has any strong opinion against expansion. Likewise, we’re not under any pressure to expand.”

Virginia Tech would make the most sense in terms of its television market, the quality of football program and the culture of its relatively remote campus in Blacksburg.

“We have had zero conversations about 14,” the official said. “And we won’t. I think the issue will be, Does Texas A&M want in? And if so, do we want to take them?”

VT would be an excellent choice.

I went on record several weeks ago that VT was my pick. I agree they would be an excellant choice.

Can't think of a better one really.

Nope.

I love the state of Virginia.  And I know the SEC would love to expand into the VA market.  But I'm not a fan of VT.  Wish we could get UVA instead.

I would prefer Oklahoma but VT offers a bigger TV market.

And a really long drive to games.

I think it will be Clemson. Talent-wise, maybe not the best bet, but geographically good.

We already have USCe in SC.  If anything, take UNC and UVA.

I think Virginia Tech or Viginia. That way CNS can go up there raid all the 5* talent.

VT would be a good choice for the Virginia market.

I'm lukewarm about the Aggies unless the SEC can also get Oklahoma.

It's already a natural rivalry. Will be even better with both in the SEC.

He must be able to see the future...he's already started.  Philips Sims, and Arie and Cyrus are all from that area.   Grin

Clemson does not bring a new TV market or additional money to the SEC. It would cost the other teams money to add them.

AK and CK are from DeMathis High school. I thought that was in Washington DC. Is high school in Virginia?
