I think it will be Clemson. Talent-wise, maybe not the best bet, but geographically good.

We already have USCe in SC.  If anything, take UNC and UVA.

I think Virginia Tech or Viginia. That way CNS can go up there raid all the 5* talent.

He must be able to see the future...he's already started.  Philips Sims, and Arie and Cyrus are all from that area.   Grin

AK and CK are from DeMathis High school. I thought that was in Washington DC. Is high school in Virginia?

I consider it to be that basic area.

It will be Clemson. I think FSU will be the next ACC team to transfer.T&AM of course will be the first coming here. RTR!

South Carolina and Florida have already balked at the idea of adding an in-state team (Clemson and FSU, respectively).

Do you think they can't be out voted or whatever, how they do it? RTR!

I'm not sure about the ins-and-outs of the whole expansion process, Ricky.  I've not seen any good reporting on the rules to the process either, so I'm not sure it's public knowledge.  Apparently the University presidents get to vote or have a big say in the whole matter.  Not sure if it has to pass by a certain majority or unanimous or what.

thanks Hannibal, I hadn't thought of that, but it would probably be a lot of secret ballot or not public as you say. I guess the big MONEY would also play a great big part, cause if it don't bring money then nobody is going to move on anything. RTR!

It has to be 3/4 majority.  That means it takes 3 schools to veto somebody.  I believe the rules are public.

I don't see the in-state rival thing being an issue to be honest.  Half of the league has an in-state rivel, so they aren't going to sympathize.  The other half will probably vote for any school that isn't their in state rival.  For example, Florida would probably be happy to take Clemson because it means FSU won't be the 14th team.  So I don't think anyone will be vetoed because of that.

However, the issue of money may cause an in-state rival to get voted down because it doesn't expand the TV market.  For example, it could turn out that adding Clemson won't allow each school to keep their current revenue level because there isn't enough extra money coming in to give Clemson the same that everyone else gets right now.  I think that the schools get about 30 million each right now, so whoever we add will need to allow us to add at least 30 million more in conference revenue just so all the other schools don't have to take a cut.  It remains to be seen as to which in state schools can pull that off, if any.  I think FSU probably could, but maybe not Clemson.

Doesn't that mean it would take 4 to veto?  A 9 to 3 vote is still a 3/4 majority.

And does Slive get a vote.

I think I have to side with the Va Tech crowd. While Clemson is geographically and probably more culturally tied to the conference, I can't see how it would be of great benefit to the conference. FSU would offer more, but would they be willing to compete in a more challenging conference? OU would be a powerhouse, but again, the TV market situation. VA Tech offers a top flight program, access to more recruits in the DC area, and bigger market.

You are right, it would take 4 to veto.  I usually explain this by saying it takes 9 to approve, which is not the same as saying it takes 3 to veto.

I think the other team that will come will be from the Big 12. There's a lot of money out that way and that is what this whole thing is about. I could be wrong but I don't think anyone from the ACC will be coming this way. I think the ACC and the Big East will do some moving around to get their big conference.
