Personally I don't think Muschamp is the coach that a lot of folks make him out to be. When he left Texas for the Florida job, head coach, I thought that was a bad move on his part because you don't get a job as a head coach in the SEC West to learn how to become a head coach. I think he will find the job at Auburn to be a real pressure cooker and his anger management isn't the best, not a good recipe for success.

Plus, nobody there even knows how to spell defense.

Down at the Barn, they think it has something to do with barbed wire and metal fence posts, it helps to keep the goats up.  Wink

Muschamp is much better than Ellis Johnson but he still has to have players. In previous DC jobs he coached under a defensive minded head coach. Practicing against the HUNH every day in practice is not physical football. I think the barns problem on defense goes deeper than the DC.

Muschamp was DC at Auburn before, under Tuberville.

And of course he was DC under Saban at LSU, and coached linebackers at the Miami Dolphins.

Good.  He gets a chance to fail again.

Seriously, he wasn't a good match for University of Houston.  They need a offense.  He ain't it!  May he find happiness among the goat humpers!

Well we know coaching matters so expect Barn's D to be better.  How much better and how fast it will get better remains to be seen.  CWM is a good recruiter and will help bet better D players to the Barn.  But it will take some time.

When in doubt, check the facts. Let's look at the points allowed each season he was the DC. I'm not counting his time at LSU since Saban was there & he's the real DC.

AUBURN

2006: 181 pts.  13.9 ppg
2007: 220 pts   16.9 ppg

TEXAS

2008: 244 pts. 18.7 ppg
2009: 234 pts. 16.7 ppg
2010: 284 pts. 23.6 ppg

FLORIDA (HC)

2011: 264 pts. 20.3 ppg
2012: 188 pts. 14.4 ppg
2013: 253 pts. 21.0 ppg
2014: 233 pts. 21.1 ppg

I don't see a shutdown D using these numbers. I do see maybe 2 or 3 decent defenses. Of course, Awbarn is thinking if they keep it at 20-25 points per game, they will win.

Here is the difference in the two fanbases: If a good hire is made at Bama, the fans talk about how good it is for Bama. If a good hire is made at Aubarn, the fans talk about they somehow one-upped Bama. Classic little-brother syndrome.
