I had heard that CNS was going to have a press conference today, but I've not seen anything on it.

Smith also has some other things to take care of "in house," before he can return to the field, Saban said.

"We've never had an issue with Geno. He's an excellent person," Saban said. "He's never been in trouble here before, never been in my office for anything, but I think this is something that everybody should learn from that when you make a bad choice, sometimes the consequences of that choice can really have a negative effect.

Okay, I'm willing to give him a break with a one game suspension based on Saban's comments. However, if he screws up again like this, he should be dog meat and get hammered.

Smith and DePriest both stood up and apologized for their mistakes in a team meeting. CNS praised both men as good people who made bad decisions. I hope they learn and get it together. GS one game suspension is about right.

These two players now have a chance to become one of those much needed good leaders that CNS was talking about Saturday. Once you've stepped over that dreaded line and made a mistake and then been been punished for it, it's much easier to tell someone how to make the right choices and decisions.

The common rumor is that Geno blew over the BAC for a minor (.02) but WELL under the .08 for a "normal" DUI. Still not condoning what he did, but he likely wasn't an impaired driver.
