The common rumor is that Geno blew over the BAC for a minor (.02) but WELL under the .08 for a "normal" DUI.  Still not condoning what he did, but he likely wasn't an impaired driver.
I'm with you.
But there will be some who would judge him ...

Right. God forbid anyone say something about him doing underage drinking & driving. Here is the law and they nailed him with because he is under 21. If he was 21, they could not have arrested him.

Quote
A person who is under the age of 21 years shall not drive or be in actual physical control of any vehicle if there is .02 percentage or more by weight of alcohol in his or her blood. The Department of Public Safety shall suspend or revoke the driver's license of any person, including, but not limited to, a juvenile, child, or youthful offender, convicted or adjudicated of, or subjected to a finding of delinquency based on this subsection.

I wonder how they catch someone underage at .02.  What is the probable cause to pull him over?  Either he was speeding or broke some other traffic law, which is not part of the charges, or he was caught in a trap.

Smith and DePriest both stood up and apologized for their mistakes in a team meeting. CNS praised both men as good people who made bad decisions. I hope they learn and get it together. GS one game suspension is about right.
What was DePriest offense?

Nobody really knows, but speculation is that it was for eating a taco.

Apparently he was at Taco Bell past curfew.

Nobody seems to know.
Was it a visit to the restaurant, or was it a metaphor?

The some of most common ways to use probable cause and pull someone over is expired tag, no tag light (at night), only one working headlight, driving with no headlights on, driving with bright lights to oncoming traffic, etc. These are especially useful if trying to catch drunk drivers at night. They are not weaving, but you check drivers out, especially very late at night.

All true.  You didn't mention profiling.
During my sheriffing days, never marshaling, all of the above.

Profiling is an excellent tool for catching criminals. Like if you see a white guy at 2 am driving around a place like Ensley (poor, rundown, dangerous area of Birmingham) you pull him over, for say no tag light, and surprise, he has drugs in his vehicle.

The first time I got to sit in the back of a police car was something similar.  The officer pulled me over and informed me that based on my ethnicity and my income/car, I could only be in that neighborhood late at night for drugs or hookers.  He made up some traffic violation that I did not commit as an excuse.  I assured him I was not looking for drugs or hookers but was taking a short cut through a bad area to get across town.  I agreed to let him search my car while I sat in the back of his.  Afterwards he told me he planned to follow me out of the neighborhood because he was worried about my safety.
