I'm sorry for the loss in your extended family, NALT.   I lifted a prayer for all involved.

2, we'll also be mindful of your back surgery and pray for relief.

Thanks HL. NALT, sorry to hear about your dad's stepdaughter. Prayers up. Glad your daughter and the rest of the family made it home ok.

Why is that camel's legs tied together?

Keeps it from running away.  Common practice for horses as well when you are in an area where there isn't a tree or fence post to tie them up.  Of courses with camels out in the desert, there is never any trees or fences.

Good point.  I'm not sure I'm that trusting of a 1000+lbs animal to be the one who does it.  I try to keep my head from getting kicked or stepped on.

I just saw an article on AL.com that an Alabama man was shot in Hawaii.  I checked the name in the article, and it was not NALT.

Aloha everyone.  Things are going well for me out here on Kauai.  I'm sure glad that Alabama man that was shot and killed wasn't me.  Back in June (I was home at the time) there was a newlywed couple out here on Kauai from Louisiana.  The guy videoed his new wife trying to pet a Hawaiian Monk Seal (presently on the endangered species list).  They then uploaded the video to some social media where the authorities picked up on it.  They were not only charged with harassing the animal but they also claimed they received death threats from some of the local Hawaiian citizens.  Play stupid games, win stupid prizes...

Incidentally, this past Saturday afternoon I took the wife and kids to the Polihale beach.  This is one of the most beautiful beaches that I've ever seen and that includes the beautiful white sand beaches of North Florida.  Just after we arrived we watched a Monk seal and it's 4 week old pup crawl up on the beach to get some rest.  That turned out to be the same seal that the woman touched.  It hadn't given birth when she encountered it though.

If only there was some contraption to capture the images that you describe.  Thinking

I just read an article about that incident, NALT - DON"T TOUCH THE SEAL!

"It is considered a Class C felony to touch or harass a Hawaiian monk seal under state and federal laws. Violators face penalties of up to five years in prison and up to a $50,000 fine."
