Good morning folks.  Thunderstorms and tornados around here during the night.  At least 3 dead in Jackson County so far.  None were near me though.  Our power went out around 2:30 and is still out.  I came in to the office but can be back home in about 35-40 minutes if Mrs. Nalt needs me... Prayers for all those effected by the storms and fires.

Dang, NALT.   Pray

Yeah, thanks.  We're fine.  I left Mrs. Nalt at home with the kids so I'm doing just GREAT!  Cool

Well I see on the weather map we are under a tornado watch here and heavy rain coming which we so desperately need. I am glad everybody is safe and we pray that it rains in mountains where the fires areplease. Everybody smile and have a nice day. RTR!

I just received an email message from a guy that is a weather hobbyist.  He is actually pretty good with his outlooks too.  He said that North Alabama received 4.1" of rainfall during the night.  We needed that but hopefully it will get up in east Tennessee and camp out for a few days...

Preacher, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but he also said that cooler temps are on the way today...

Good morning.  Coffee

Well, the rain is gone and we have a frosty morning (32 degrees).  Finally feels like winter.  Can't say I'm pleased.

Lots of bad news from eastern Tennessee.  At least 7 dead and several still missing, including a Memphis couple whose adult children survived and are in the burn unit at Nashville.  Not likely the couple survived.

Not only did lots of people lose their homes, but many lost their jobs as well; businesses burned.  And the rentals that survived are now surrounded by ugly landscape, making renting unlikely.  Bad news all around that region.

Here life is good.  Bought some Christmas goodies yesterday.  Be quiet please

Yeah, real bad situation in East Tn. From a Courier-Post article;
Quote
"It was like an apocalyptic wasteland," Reese recalled, his throat still sore from inhaling smoke.

And this;
Quote
And park rangers warned recent rainfall would buy only a day or two of relief. A return of dry weather will bring new risks of fresh fire outbreaks.

 Sad

The real issue is drought; part of the global weather change with El Niño. It doesn't excuse arson, but it's the cause of the disaster.

Good morning folks.  One more day until the SECCG.  Cold temps out there this morning with rain supposed to be heading our way for the weekend.  My driveway washed out pretty bad on Tuesday but I haven't had the time or $$ to fix it just yet.  With more rain predicted in the next few days I think I had better wait anyways as long as we can still get in and out.  Much more damage and that won't be happening though...

Good morning, NALT.

Santa can bring you switches or a sack of coal; not sure about a load of gravel!    Might be time for asphalt or concrete, but that'd be expensive.

Looking forward to the SECCG tomorrow.  Hopefully all of the distractions won't bother Alabama; Kiffin seems to be in every conversation about coaching hires around the country.  Just get us past Florida, then he can go play wherever he wants!

I feel your pain NALT. We lived in Wetumpka (Jasmine Hills) in the late 80's, and our driveway was dirt/gravel 1/4 of a mile uphill from Jasmine Hill Rd. It washed out all the time. The county was good enough to grade it when it got too bad, though. Ahhh, the good old days.

I'll be heading for Atlanta early in the morning. The tickets include free entry into the "Fanfare". Supposedly, that's where SEC Game Day will be. I'll try to sneak up on Finebaum and thump him in the ear. Shouldn't be too hard; big target. I'll hold up 3 fingers so you'll know it's me.
