First off. Congrats to the softball team for their championship.  I want all Bama sports to do well and am glad for them that they won.  However, I am wondering how many people actually follow that sport and genuinely care about it?  For that matter any of the other sports besides football at Bama?  I follow football and basketball, but honestly have no desire to follow any of the other sports.  Baseball sucks now and I don't care for that sport much anyway other than watching my own child play.  It seems there is a band wagon element when a non-traditional sport does well in a season and I am seeing that in softball this year.  Again, I'm glad they won and proud for them, but I'm not going to act like I follow the sport and am a diehard fan like I am with football and that I care about softball.

2. My life's happienes doesn't hinge on what people on internets forums think of me.
3. how did I get "beotch slapped" by those two?

I follow and care about ALL University of Alabama sports, some with more enthusiam than others. You're right, baseball is in the toilet and the head coach is in big trouble if we have another crappy year in 2013. I enjoy gymnastics and golf, but my major sports are football, basketball, & baseball. Woment's BB needs major improvement and softball has been a shining star under Murphy.

Now I care in the sense that I want them to all be winning programs.  I don't care in the sense I do about football where I get pissed when we lose and it makes me feel sick to my stomach if we lose a football game. I don't know if or how many of you all listen to finebaum, but there were fans calling there acting like they were the biggest softball fans in the world when you know they probably have never watched a game in their life and just want to jump on the bandwagon.  I just wonder how many hardcore followers there are of the smaller sports....It would be interesting to see what percentage of hardcore football fans are.

I follow men's basketball, baseball, gymnastics and softball very closely. Like most Alabama fans football is my passion but I follow these other programs closely. I look at rolltide.com daily to get updates on other sports like tennis, golf, track, rowing, etc.

I followed men's and women's golf the last few years. Once we get a program competing for SEC titles it gets my attention. The NCAA finals were streamed live and I watched the women win the title and the men lose on the final pairing on the final hole.

I think it is fair to say I am a fan of all of Alabama'a athlectic programs.

2 of my 3 daughters played softball and I coached both of them. I love girls softball. Always will. When ESPN started showing Bama softball on the tube, I thought it was great. I have followed very closely every since then. I can tell you that it was gut wrenching to me when they lost 2 to Florida last year after starting out so well in the World Series, and when they lost on a home run to Hawaii the year before, in the super regionals. I won't say that I take them as seriously as Alabama football, but I do take their sport very seriously. WV prolly will never forgive me for not watching the final game the other night, but that was a situation beyond my control that I won't delve into. Having said that, I am very proud of our ladies and the grit and guts they showed to win against Oklahoma in their own back yard. I am really happy for CPM who felt it was his duty to go to LSU last year, only to come to his senses and realize that Tuscaloosa was his home and brought these girls to glory in a very memorable situation. Jamos said it best this morning, it brought the true meaning to all of us concerning Tide Pride.

To be honest, one look at your screen name tells me you are not a basketball fan. No good Alabama fan would berate a fromer player and current coach with a name like yours. In hindsight making a coaching change and hiring CAG was a big improvement but you have to support the current coach regardless of the situation. I would say the same thing if your screen name was Shulasucks. JMHO

I don't give former players or coaches a pass just because they played or coached at Bama.  How can you say a bum like gottfried that got busted screwin round on his wife deserves any respect? Do you think a bum like Jimmy Johns deserved any respect after he got busted for selling cocaine? How about Mike Price afer his stripper party?  Dubose after screwin his secretary and getting Bama on probation?  You are entitled to your opinion, but I don't think its wise to give a guy a pass and treat him like a king just because he played/coached at Bama.

FWIW, I know the original poster personally and I know the whole story behind his screen name and I fully understand his stance.  I also don't blame him for feeling the way he does.  That has, IMO, absolutely no bearing on whether he is a basketball fan or not, just how he feels toward that one person.

To answer the OP, I am adicted to football, watch basketball occasionally, check the results for the gymnastics team regularly and try to watch softball everytime their game is on tv.  I hope all of the other sports to do well and even hope they win the NC but I really don't follow them.  I also don't follow golf either.  It ain't a sport IMO... I try to follow as many teams as I can out here in Tx.  I watched more than a few softball games because ESPN would cover them.

NALT, are you aware that the OP openly pulled for Alabama's opponents near the end of the basketball season a couple of years ago?  I think pmull is right, how can you call yourself a Bama fan when you're posting comments like "Go Big Blue" just before the Kentucky game.

Talking negative about a former coach is a different matter. You were talking negative about a current coach a few years ago on another board. You were openly wanting the team to lose so the coach would be fired. The rest of us fans were hoping we could get the season turned around and make post season play.
