Until Friday, Slive may have had six straight BCS championships, but Delany had the Rose Bowl. Slive may have had two new schools from two new states and two new TV markets preparing to swell his league's ranks to 14, but Delany had the Rose Bowl. Slive may have had most of the best players, coaches and fans in college football under his big tent, but Delany had the Rose Bowl.

I don't think there is any doubt that Slive is the biggest power player in college football right now. There is nothing wrong with tradition (heck, we are Bama fans, we love tradition), but not to the detriment of keeping your future bright. That is what Delany and his conference is doing. They are not keeping up with the times, and they are paying dearly for it. While the Big 10 may not (or may never be) finished, they run the risk of becoming irrelevant come title time, and that is a huge deal these days. Slive can play hard ball with the best of them, and he has the conference set up to continue its run.

Also, they are hanging their hat on Urban Meyer (the SEC left over) and Michigan's Brady Hoke. These teams are going to run things that the SEC have already figured out are not going to win big with out Big time talaent, which the Big Ten lacks.

Meyer and Hoke both recruit extremely well, so I wouldn't count them out just yet.  But you are right, Saban (and probably Miles too) has figured out how to beat Meyer's offense, and while Michigan is on the upswing they are still another year or two away.  Bama owning Michigan on September 1 won't help them either.

It does remain to be seen how important this new bowl game becomes.  If the SEC continues to place a team in the BCSCG every year, then the bowl might not become as important as it looks on paper.

The new bowl likely will be played in Dallas, giving Jerry Jones the big-time college bowl he has been wanting for his new stadium.  And likely will become a BCS game.  But what happens to the Sugar Bowl?

Bowl tradition my azz. I could care less about saving any of the present bowl games. They have never been about selecting the best teams. They go after teams with large fan bases that travel well. I am ready to move torward a playoff even if it is only 4 teams. If the bowls get lost in all of this so be it.

As far as a location for the SEC - Big 12 bowl game I hope it moves around. The SEC Championship game is played in Atlanta each year so that is not a good option. I like Dallas because it is a nice indoor stadium in a nice town. IMO the bowl site should be a nice weather town on Jan 1 or have a nice dome. Snow, sleet and cold weather football is for the pros. I say bid the game out and bring in big money while rewarding the players with a first class location.

I fixed that for you.  Cheesy Now you have an thought for sure. Bowls have gotten to be so many I can't watch them all. You have 5-7 or 6-6 teams playing that have not done anything for a reward. JMHO.  RTR!
