After watching the highlights, I just have a couple of things. 1. I hope he can adjust to life in the SEC, because he wasn't exactly playing against elite DBs in those clips. 2. He ran the spread/shotgun in HS, so he will have t make that adjustment as well. I don't really doubt that he can since AJ did it very successfully, and we have the best coaching staff in football. His biggest adjustment is going to be the speed and power of SEC DBs. And he better put some weight on, or these 300 pd DLs will break him in half. I am still excited that he chose Bama, and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do. Roll Tide. And FWIW, I like the nickname DB. It's more mysterious.

That was the first thing I thought. The kid definitely has skills, but probably needs to put on, what, 15-20 pounds?

Scout.com has him at 205 lbs, which is bigger than some HS QB recruits that came to Bama.  Brodie Croyle comes to mind.  And Scout had AJ at 180 lbs coming out of HS.  So I'm not too worried about his size.

You are right about the DBs he faced, and the shotgun.  He is coming in early, but likely (hopefully, because we won't need him) will redshirt to give him time to adjust to being under center and his footwork.

What I like about his is that he has a big arm but still can place the ball where only his receivers can get to it.  He also has good mobility and can run the ball when needed.

"We run a college-style offense, he's got to make a lot of calls at the line of scrimmage, he's got to do a lot of things with the football as far as changing plays at the line and all that kind of stuff. We kind of prepped him to play college football. He's 6-foot-3, runs a sub-4.5 40 and has a cannon for an arm and, oh by the way, has a 3.8 grade point average."

"We were down by 6 in a 30-degree game with four seconds to go. He threw it 67 yards on a rope and hit our guy in stride. The DB started backpeddling because he didn't think he could throw it that far.

bingo boys ! that's a goody !

Nice article. I especially like this:

Honestly, he's like 'I don't care. I might as well play the best football I can and see if I can play at that level.

He's a smart kid that knows Bama is the best. He has the mental toughness and the skills. He could be special. Wooot! Roll Tide!

Gotta give kudos to new OC Nussmeyer and the guy who hired him...(that would be CNS.)  Have to think Coach N's impact on recruiting is just beginning.  It's been a loooong time since I've been this excited about a QB recruit that's committed to us.  Now let's just pray it all works out.
