Is the rest of the nation getting fatigued with all the success that’s been coming Alabama’s success?

Is the NFL draft just one more straw that could break the camel’s back when it comes the Alabama fatigue factor?

What is the Alabama fatigue factor?

Well if you’re not an owner of Crimson Tide gear, you may not even have noticed that this national fatigue factor is growing with each Alabama and Nick Saban success.

But is does exist and it is growing.

In the BCS era, no team has dominated every aspect of success as Alabama has, not in recruiting, not in putting guys in the NFL in the first round and certainly not in BCS appearances and overall success.

Alabama is quickly approaching the same fatigue factor many felt in NASCAR until this past season… Anybody but Jimmie Johnson please.

It’s not that Johnson wasn’t deserving, was smug or cocky with his success, but it was just tiring.

The same is true for Alabama.

Alabama is far from cocky or smug, they are deserving, Saban simply outworks other coaches much in the same manner that his team is willing to simply outwork their opponents.

But the country with the exception of the Southern states, were already in SEC fatigue when Alabama started their ascent to the top.

Has that fatigue already reared its ugly head and cost members of the Crimson Tide already?

Well, there is a point to this article.  The fatigue is manifest via humans and that is why IMHO it's important that there be some objective factor -- like the computer rankings and the strength of schedule computation -- in the BCS ranking formula.  Poll voters get tired of Bama being up there each year, and don't want to believe we are as good as we are, year after year. The objective BCS factors help mitigate that.

Another thing that helps us is playing and winning major intersectional non-conf games, such as Michigan this fall.

I think there is something to the idea of "Bama Fatigue". Look at the NY Yankees, lots of people hate them because of their success but it doesn't stop them from winning Championships.

Last year, Bama was helped by LSU's whopping of Oregon early in the season.  Had LSU not played Oregon, I think Oregon makes it to the BCS Title game.  This year, SEC teams have softer non-conference schedules.  The Michigan v. Bama game is probably the most important.  Other notable non-conference games are Ole Miss v. Texas, and the usual ACC games, Florida v. Florida State, Georgia v. Georgia Tech, South Carolina and Auburn both play Clemson, and Vandy v. Wake Forest.  It will be harder for a second SEC team to make the title game this year for that reason -- no decent PAC12 opponents (LSU plays Washington), only Michigan from the Big10, and only Texas (v. Ole Piss) from the Big12.  It would take a miracle for an SEC only championship.  (Michigan, Texas, Washington and maybe Clemson or Florida State going undefeated in conference play but being blown out by their SEC opponents).

You can call it fatigue but repect is a better word. Teams and football fans around the country may not like us but they have to respect what we are doing. In addition to our success on the playing field we are excelling in the classroom. We had 38 players make the SEC Honor Roll last year. We have the highest graduation rate in the SEC except Vandy. You rarely hear of a discipline problem from our team. We are winning and winning big. It is equally important that we do it the right way. CNS procees is working and you may not like it but how can you not respect it.

Those who commit the sin of envy not only resent that another person has something they perceive themselves as lacking, but also wish the other person to be deprived of it.
Dante defined this as "a desire to deprive other men of theirs." Envy can be directly related to the Ten Commandments, specifically "Neither shall you desire... anything that belongs to your neighbour". In Dante's Purgatory, the punishment for the envious is to have their eyes sewn shut with wire because they have gained sinful pleasure from seeing others brought low. Aquinas described envy as "sorrow for another's good".
Greed takes on a more material aspect while envy has a more general use.

How often do you see people delighting in the transgressions of others. Without any effort, one team is somehow "lifted up" by the sins of another team. "Well, at least we are not Penn State." This saves the first team from having to do any actual work (cleaning up there act). Under this umbrella may be"justifying bad behavior by pointing at worse behavior in others". Then there is the ever present, "Hey, at least we don't poison trees" upon being presented with an "A to Z" list of NCAA cheating violations.
