Bama had better bring more to the game tonight than what they brought Tuesday night, Georgia will be very tough to beat at home. Traina can be tough but she has been giving up the long ball lately and that is what Georgia likes most.

I don't have any idea of what the pitching rotation might be this weekend, it wouldn't surprise me to see Traina start all three games if she doesn't get caught up in any extra innings. Jury has become a head case, she is really struggling mentally and I'm not sure if CPM will risk her against this team. Locke should be good for 2-4 innings per game but that has been it for her so far this season.

I guess we will know in a little while. RTR!!

Not looking good at this point.  UGA is winning 7-0 going to the 4th.

Bama loses the game 7-4 and I have to give them credit for not giving up. If anyone thinks that Jackie Traina isn't a player, they need to get their head checked.

I'm just wondering as to how much the coaches of Georgia had to do with the condition of their playing field last night. Ther's no doubt the hardnes of the pitching circle affected Traina in a big way and Lu, Georgia's head coach, has a past history of bending or breaking some of the rules. Her latest deal with the rule breaking was her pitchers that she had a few years back that would step to the side of the circle when she pitched rather than toward homeplate. Lu and some Pac 10 coaches are the reason for the two lines that go from the sides of the pitching rubber to the front of the circle, that is their lane to pitch in. Once the grounds crew got the pitching surface corrrected, then Traina settled into her old self and pitched a good game. As the announcers said, the infield was hard as a brick, something that you usually don't see and I'm sure it played into Georgia's game plan.

I think we will see a different Bama team tonight. RTR!!

Jackie Traina is an outstanding college athlete.  She had a bad couple of innings, everybody has them sooner or later.  Whether the field conditions contribituted to it or not, I don't know.  Once she settled in, she was lights out.  I hate to lose as bad as anybody, but it happens and you just move on.  This team is very close to being a championship caliber team.  Two things need to happen for it to get there.  First and formost the depth of the pitching staff has to come around.  As Jamos has pointed out before Locke and Jury need to step it up big time.

We do not have 2 pitchers as strong as Tennessee, Florida of Georgia. (Those are the only SEC teams I've seen). Traina is better than any of their #1, but our #2 is no where close to theirs.

Secondly, and this might seem nit picky, but our defense is not as strong as it needs to be to dominate the competition.  I'm not just talking about the errors, but also the plays we fail to make such as a missed tag at the plate or a wild pitch on a strike out.

This team has had a great start but are now running into the heart of the tough SEC schedule.  Here's hoping they bounce back from these back to back loses and finish strong.

Bama wins 8-3. Traina goes to 27-1.

Good win for the ladies. They can take the series tomorrow.

Bama 8-3 winner tonight

Traina still struggled for the first 2 innings, gave up 3 runs

Shut 'em out for the final 5 innings

Bama had 12 hits including HRs by Branham, Locke and Lunceford

Played flawless on defense.

Hope we play like this tomorrow night

Any win at Georgia is a good good one, way to go ladies. Traina has got to get a good change up pitch, she has one now but it's not as good as it could be. She would be really hard to beat if she had this.

Hayes was at shortstop tonight, I wonder if the first two innings yesterday might have cost Hunt a start tonight.

Good job ladies. RTR!

The radio announcer said Hunt got cleated on a steal attempt in the 2nd inning.
She started the game at SS and had a hit in her first at bat.

My bad, I came in from working outside in the third and Gametracker had her at ss. Hope it's not a serious injury.

No. 2 Alabama rallies to down No. 12 Georgia, sets up Saturday rubber match

Quote
No. 2 Alabama rallied to snap its season-high two-game losing streak Friday, as it scored the game's final six runs en route to a 8-3 victory over No. 12 Georgia in Athens.

With Alabama (41-4, 18-3 SEC) trailing 3-2 in the fourth inning, third baseman Courtney Conley, the Crimson Tide's bottom-of-the-order hitter, put the Crimson Tide ahead for good with a two-run single. Second baseman Jackey Branham, Jazlyn Lunceford and Amanda Locke gave Alabama more than enough insurance over the next two innings, as Branham and Locke each hit solo home runs and Lunceford added a two-run shot to blow the game open.

First pitch for Saturday's rubber match is set for 1:30 p.m.
