Sitting in front of rolling cameras and eager reporters tweeting away on their mobile devices, Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long held what had to be the toughest press conference of his four years in Fayetteville.

His coach… his big hire… Bobby Petrino, had flat-out lied to him...

Yes, another thread about it.  It's the most-salient news in the SEC today.

The primary problem, besides the lie, is that Petrino hired her himself (apparently after the affair started).

This isn’t the case of an older man preying on a White House intern. This is the case of two consenting adults apparently indulging in pleasurable pursuits.

UPDATE: Not fired, but Petrino is on paid administrative leave while Assistant Head Coach/Linebackers Coach Taver Johnson has been tasked with running things in the interim. Most intriguing question that came up is the allegation that Petrino also lied about taking a blood alcohol test (claimed he did not/alcohol was not involved, but blood tests were taken at the hospital, media pushing for the results). If alcohol was involved and the cover up just gets that much thicker? You have to think he's gone. Further, the young lady in question was recently hired/promoted by Petrino, so if there's any question as to whether their relationship was the reason behind that hire? Man, this is gonna get ugly.

And in a statement released to the media Petrino acknowledged the inappropriate relationship between he and Jessica Dorrell, who Petrino recently hired as the student-athlete development coordinator for the football team.
"My concern was to protect my family and a previous inappropriate relationship from becoming public," he said. "In hindsight, I showed a serious mistake in judgment when I chose not to be more specific about those details.
