CB's - CNS feels like he has as much talent this year as he ever has in Ttown. The guy who has impressed the most and earned a starting corner spot is Dequan Menzie. Last year if he had an opportunity to to through Spring and Fall healthy, he would have easily started opposite Dre, but his lack of experience and lack of knowledge with the D schemes and plays kept him from playing the position he's truly made for...a shutdown island corner; he played extra nickel and dime star a little as the 3rd guy in the set and it helped him really learn and grasp Bama's concept for his position on D and in the offseason he crammed and learned the playbook and has been flawless so far, he's already come out and thrown down the gauntlet, showed his range and that there's no thoughts in the back of his mind about his ankle like he had last year and so far has looked like the best shutdown corner we might have on roster, we expect major things from him this season. CNS also really feels like Dre has turned a corner, he really had a few lapses las year and it's sad because he COULD be an outstanding corner just has to strengthen his focus and concentration and CNS has really focused on him so we'll see how he responds. Last year's starter opposite Dre, Milliner was a great CB but still you could see how raw he was at times and also lacked focus as well. CNS has been working with him and Fulton on technique and fundamentals to help them along and they've responded well. Also as a group they've watched a lot of film letting them see where they had mental errors to help development. I'll end on Vinnie Sunseri who's been working out with the CB's so far to learn the money position and just giving him reps to learn the backside of the D as well, we'll see if he finds a permanent home with the group. Last year's most inexperienced group had to grow up fast last year and it's gonna pay huge dividends this year with experience.

You think Sunseri can play back there?  Or just being given a chance?  I can't believe he has the wheels for DB.

I really think he's making a smooth transition Chech, he's what we refer to as a dang fine fball player on D, he's got the speed with his size (6', 215) and is an absolute tackle machine, he has perfect form tackling (he tackles like a dang NFL player on film from HS) and he's so athletic, we could put him at any position on D I think chech

Sunseri definitely doesn't have the same speed, but his size, tackling skills and desire to come up and lay a lick on someone in run support could make him an Eric Berry style Strong Safety for us.  Couple those qualities with a lifetime of football smarts derived from conversations with, mentorship by, and observations of his father and he could truly excel as a SS in CNS/CKS's defense.

Edit: fixed the redundant SSs

I have been excited about this kid ever since I saw him on the Under Armor show a couple of months ago.

Yeah doesn't have the speed yet but he's working on it since he came in at the size he did he's getting a look there 1st and still learning both positions, CNS tagged him very early as an extremely smart guy and a leader so he's grooming as such and I think if he started at LB it would have been too easy for him

I am glad to see Dre improving. I think last year he let us down and made some bad moves last year, cost us some serveere yardage. RTR!

To clarify, are you saying that you saw Vinnie working with the corners as that would be interesting news indeed?

or, did you mean to say the secondary in general?  As he is built for a strong safety possible free safety, but I'd be very surprised to see him moved to corner.

If your implying that he'll play the money position in our dime packages that seems appropriate as it is truly a strong safety/linebacker hybrid position.

But, Vinnie at corner seems as if it would have made news by now.  I have only heard of him working at safety.  I had envisioned being groomed like Mark Barron who played SS, some frees safety, and practiced at the money position regularly before finding a home at SS.
