Apparently, the SEC winning six straight national titles capped by an All-SEC BCS National Championship Game was the last straw, at least for everyone outside of the SEC. Ironically, it was the SEC that suggested moving beyond the current BCS format before the league's dominance got to this point because an undefeated SEC champion got shut out of the BCS Championship Game.

The 2004 Auburn team should take a bow. It's taken some time, but some greater good may come out of its inexcusable snub after all.

That good will be a playoff. It'll be a four-team playoff because radical change is too much to expect from this bunch, but a playoff just the same, starting with the 2014 season.

It's a historic shift. You can't overstate the significance of their open minds, especially when one of them belongs to the Big Ten's Jim Delany. There's only one explanation for his willingness to join in the discussion. That's right. A playoff is coming to major college football. Amazing.

This year would have been pretty cool to have a 4 team playoff.  While I think it still would have been LSU and Bama in the BCSCG, the initial matchups, Stanford v. LSU and OkStU v Bama, would at least have been interesting.

Mostly what I am thinking is, Another game to watch Bama dominate its opponent!  That can't be all bad.
