What do you guys/gals think of Mark Ingram charging $89-129 for an autograph and photo?

I personally think that it's crazy for him to do that - especially in Bama land - everyone supported him throughout his college career and this is what they get? Maybe I'm wrong and maybe they ALL do it - just seems sad to me that it's already only about the money.

I agree. I really hated to read that though.

I think he signed a endorsement deal when he announced he was leaving and that company is actually the ones charging the money and they're paying him to sign autographs.

If it's worth the money, pay it.  If not, not.

He's not going to be playing football in the NFL when he's 50.  Mark Ingram needs to get his while he can.  He gave us everything he had while he was at Bama...I'm not gonna be greedy and ask for more.

I don't think anyone turned on him. I put a question out asking what people thought. I posted a link for the article that listed the charges for autographs and pictures.
If he was giving signed footballs, yeah it'd be worth it but to just be in a picture with him?  I'll just be a big fan of his without a picture of autograph. Smiley

I don't think it's that big of a deal.  He gave us PLENTY while at UA and now he gets to take advantage of what he did for us.

The average NFL player only has like a 4 year career, and it may be less for RBs due to all the pounding they take.  He needs to get his while he can so that he can be set up financially for the rest of his life.

The whole autograph craze surprises me.  People stand in line for an autograph, sometimes even have to pay for it, and for what?  Bragging?  I thought the idea of an autograph was to document a face-to-face meeting, as a keepsake.  At least that's what I thought.  Now they're collectibles.

Coach Bryant story:
I have several autographs from Coach Bryant.  I'd get him to sign the sports calendars (poster size) that the University printed annually back in the 60s.  I worked for the Athletic Dept as a tutor, so I'd go up to his office in Coleman Coliseum for the autographs.  First time I did it, I planned to leave the poster for him, but the secretary said, "He's in, let me see."  She dialed his office (just a few feet away), then said, "Go on in."  Coach Bryant opened the door, and I gulped.  Handshake, then he sat at his DESK.  We had some idle chit-chat while he signed it for my Mom.  I got one each year for several years, plus a signed football.

Those are keepsakes
Fortunately he never charged $$ for them Cheesy, because I had NO MONEY back in those days.
