Tide Gets Screwed with BB Schedule Against Kentucky

I don't believe in conspiracy theories but you have to wonder when the Tide got screwed with its football schedule and everyone was getting an open date before playing the Tide. Now, it's happening with basketball. We play Vandy on Thursday and then play UK on Saturday with 1 day of rest. UK plays tonight (Tuesday) and gets 3 days of rest before playing Bama on Saturday. The coach of Vandy is getting the same treatment.


 Stallings, whose team is preparing for a short Thursday-Saturday turnaround this week with games at Alabama and vs. Mississippi State, said today that it’s “not right” for Kentucky to receive a league schedule that lacks a Thursday-Saturday combo for the second consecutive season.

And it’s not just that. The Wildcats benefit from Saturday games with four tired SEC opponents that are coming off Thursday night games – the most of any team in the league.

It's unlikely they would win at Kentucky even if the situation was reversed.  It may actually be good tourney prep to face two high quality opponents in three days.  After Kentucky it's very possible that they'll win out with the remaining road games being against weak opponents and home games against MSU and Florida.  I think 14-2 or 13-3 in SEC play is very likely for this team.

Not only do we have a Thursday - Saturday schedule but the Kentucky game starts at 11:00. That gives up about 36 hours between games. In that time we have to travel from Tuscaloosa to Lexington. That is a pretty short turn around for the regular season.

Some of you guys need to have more faith in our basketball program. We have a good team. Playing at Kentucky is the toughest road trip in the SEC but it is can be won. Let's don't give up on this game before it starts.

Sorry, but home games against Florida and MSU will be very tough for us. Auburn gave UK fits in their game at Auburn. I am taking nothing for granted in SEC BB.

Sorry, but home games against Florida and MSU will be very tough for us. Auburn gave UK fits in their game at Auburn. I am taking nothing for granted in SEC BB.



 

Didn't say they won't be tough, just that they're two toughest games left after UK and we have both at home.

I try to point out the obvious, not try to pump sunshine up everyone's rear-end. Kinda like when most posters were just positive we were going to win the NC in football in 2010, despite losing 10 starters on defense. I tried to point out the obvious there, too by predicting at least 1 or 2 losses, and had posters like you making the same types of comments to me. I'm sorry you don't like facts or reality, maybe you should keep reading fairy tales that always have a happy ending.

We're talking reality and facts and someone trying to point out that we need to look at things with an open mind instead of just assuming if you yell Roll Tide enough everything will be okay. I'm not attacking or mocking you, but this is what happens when "fans" see things only through through rose-colored glasses. As far as I know, Gottfried Sux was only on TideSports. I caught a lot of grief when I was calling for Gottfrieds termination 3 years before it actually happened. He was lousy as a coach, but many "fans" took umbrage at me and some others calling for his job. I am 100% Crimson TIde, but many folks think you're supposed to just buy the company line and ignore what your own eyes see. I can't do that. Probably due to the type of work I have done for 25 years.
