Chizik will run Auburn's defense in"Chiz-fil-a bowl" game

I was worried who was coaching defense for the traditional Peach Chiz-fil-a bowl now that Coach Roof got that promotion at UCF!

Gene Chizik said he’s already found a defensive coordinator to coach bowl practice.

“Me,” he deadpanned.

Chizik announced Thursday during the official Chick-fil-A Bowl press conference at the Auburn Athletic Complex that he would serve as the Tigers’ defensive coordinator for the bowl game, assuming the duties of Ted Roof, who was officially hired for the same position at UCF on Thursday morning.

Chizik said that while he wouldn’t rule out hiring or announcing a new defensive coordinator before the bowl game, it would be hard for someone to come in to the mix as Auburn prepares to play Virginia on New Year’s Eve in Atlanta.

The Tigers open up bowl practice Monday.

“No, I’ll never say that. I’ll never say that,” Chizik said about whether he’d wait until after the bowl to hire a defensive coordinator. “But it would be really hard for a guy to come in here and be a defensive coordinator in a week. Again, this is the plan that we have and we feel good about it.”

I hope thay give up 98 points.

The bad part about this game is that UVA's colors are similar to the barn. There is going to be an awful lot of blue and orange that field Dec. 31.
