Alright guys...who is planning on going to the BCSNCG in January?  What are some non-game related things you plan on doing?  Are you going to wear full bama gear the whole time?

My sisters are taking me.  We're staying in Metaire.  I'm a little nervous since my sisters travel gear is pretty much FULL BAMA...they are always wearing a Bama shirt with Houndstooth accessories.  My sister will be driving her crimson mercedes with A magnets, so I'm kind of nervous for their safety.  New Orleans is not the safest place anyway and LSU fans are the most in your face fans of the SEC.  They told me they were fine in all Bama gear at the Rose Bowl but then again...they were not playing against the home team, either.  The safety aspect has me very nervous...bad experiences with that fanbase.

Wear your gear proud and kick some butt if you have to. Are any men going?  Undecided

I might talk the woman into letting me drive over there. I won't be able to afford tickets (unless I win some  Cheesy ), but I wouldn't mind partying with some others when the Tide opens a can on the fighting Lesters.

Well, my 14 year old nephew...doesn't count, huh?  See why I'm skeered?  They threatened to beat my husband's %*$ a several years ago for wearing his MS State gear to a MS state game in BR and he looks like a football player.  I know there will be tiger baiting but angry drunks are another story entirely...

I went to Pasadena in full Bama gear and took 3 teens with me.  I was the only adult.  No problems at all.

Right now I am planning to watch this one from home.  I am not a Bourbon Street kind of guy, I don't like seafood, I don't like having urine bags thrown at me, and I am not fond of drunks.  If it were any other team besides LSU I might be interested.  Typically the expense of going to a game like that keeps away a lot of the riff raff.  But those cajuns only need a little gas money to get into town to stir up trouble on game day.

My teenager (19) is going . They plan to tailgatewith a bunch of buddies from Trussville who are students at UA. They plan to tailgate and watch the game from outside the stadium. Can't afford tickets. They will drive down T-town Sunday night and stay in Hattiesburg. He is fired up!

Sound like a red-neck Alabama man huh? Popcorn and Coke Zero and recliner with computer at the wall. lol, I do hope everybody has a safe and fun trip. RTR!

Sounds like a great way to watch... I might envy you and your recliner if we lose...or have the peebags thrown.  With it being in New Orleans there are plenty of riff raff LSU fans there 365 days a year.  I know a guy who was shot in the face while his baby slept in the next room in New Orleans...all over a laptop.  I'm not a fan of New Orleans but maybe they will surprise me.  The ones I know in real life are great people...it's just the jerks of the group are very vocal...and very drunk.

We going.

We have gone to the 1990 and 1993 Sugar Bowls.

Gone to see "The Rolling Stones" play in Superdome in 1978, 1981, 1989 and 1994.

Went down to New Orleans in 1977 and watched "Saturday Night Live from Mardi Gras " in the French Quarter.

Plus other Mardi Gras.

We went to Baton Rouge in 1981 for Bryant's 315 year.

Never had any issues. ALways good times.

Haven't been since before "Katrina" though.

My LSU buddy "mike the tiger' lost his parents home and his sister's home from "Katrina".

I talked to him since the 9-6 game but not since we beat the boogers and rematch was set up.

Check out this picture he sent me right after Bama lost. He has since shutup for some reason!

I've got my tickets ordered and my hotel booked!  Taking my son and his friens who are both UA students.  I will be decked out in Bama gear and walking between the 2 guys with me.

No, but I'd like to point out that T. Boone Pickens announced that he had reserved a Holiday Inn Express room in anticipation of OSU being invited.  Call him and politely offer to take his reservation.  HTH.

THIS +1000000000000000000, except that I like seafood.   Grin
We went to Pasadena a couple of years ago, so I feel like I've been at the pinnacle already.  In the summer of 2009, we took a trip to NOLA, and I was reminded of how much of a dump that place really is if you're not into the drinking scene.  There were three smells that were in the air pretty much for our whole trip: garbage, urine, and horse manure.  It took me a few days after we left there to erase that smell from my nose/brain.

Dang...Holiday Inn Express?  You sure he didn't buy the entire Holiday Inn Express?  We are staying at La Quinta.  I pray we don't get first floor- the dogs allowed floor.  They had the best cancellation policy of all the places I called in case Bama didn't go...this was the night after OSU choked to ISU.  I have checked around for other places but now everything is booked up except the stuff with terrible reviews on trip advisor.  I'm gonna just deal with it....was hoping for walking distance though.

For those that haven't been to NOLA the French Quarter is must. But it is a tourist trap that most responsible locals avoid like the plague. You can still go to the BCSNCG without hanging out on Bourbon Street. New Orleans is a wonderful city with great restaurants and history. Avoid the troublespots, especially at night, and you will be fine. Kind of like porn on TV,--if you don't like it don't watch it. HTH

[The 'don't like seafood' thing IS an issue. You can still find something to eat but this limits you a lot.]     Sad
