considering the fan base, I'm surprised it wasn't worse.  I know a few good LSU fans, but most of them are pretty much unbearable on game day.

They didn't have a lot of experience winning championships growing up, so they don't know how to act.

To understand people from Louisiana you must first divide them into two distinct groups. The north of I-10 rednecks and the south of I-10 coonasses. New Orleans and Baton Rouge have a mixture but I give a coonass lean to both. They leave the state once in their life, find out everyone thinks they are a bunch of DAs, and never leave again. The coonasses get really, really drunk. The rednecks get drunk because of everyone mistaking them for coonasses. But they both have a persecution complex. They really hate people calling them drunk and stupid inbreds,-- mainly because they ARE drunk and stupid inbreds. I hope this helps.

BTW, I like them and miss going there to visit. I learned a lot living there, and found that once you're in the group (this takes a while), they are as tolerable as the rest of us. I have a couple of south of I-10 guys "on-call" in case our daughter has any trouble while she is in Baton Rouge.

TPD says LSU weekend not as wild as anticipated

Officers dealt with more intoxicated people and made more arrests than a typical weekend, but said it wasn't as wild as they'd anticipated, said Tuscaloosa Police Sgt. Brent Blankley.

“It was quiet for that big of a game,” he said. “It was very contained, we didn't have a lot of fights break out,”

TPD officers made 143 arrests between Friday and Sunday. That includes every arrest made in the city, not just those that were game-related.

They made 103 arrests when Tennessee played here in October, 72 during the weekend the team had off and 74 the weekend of an away game.

Mug shots that appeared on the Tuscaloosa County Jail's website throughout the weekend showed several young people in jail for public intoxication or disorderly conduct. Some appeared to have injuries to their faces as if they'd been in a brawl, but most were smiling -- even the ones wearing crimson shirts.

A video posted on YouTube shows a fight between several young men fighting on the Quad during the daylight hours. Some punches were thrown, but the fight seemed to consist mostly of shoving and was broken up by a police officer who arrived within two minutes.

The video is 4 minutes long and no police officer shows up.
