Quote
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The Alabama running backs were between drills Tuesday afternoon when a friendly reminder came from positional coach Burton Burns.

Good backs, he yelled, don’t wait for contact. They initiate it.

The Tigers run more by committee and with the help of a fullback. Alabama leans heavily on Heisman Trophy candidate Trent Richardson who typically lines up alone in the backfield.

Through eight games, neither have shown many weaknesses with Alabama averaging 229 rushing yards to rank 14th nationally compared to LSU’s 189-yard average that’s 31st.

Our O-line needs to have a special game Sat. Night. Our running game will be a lead to whether win or not, and also Special teams. I can see TR getting his 100 yds or more but it will take more than that for this game. I personally think we need to get our 229 yds a game or more nearer to 250 to 300 yds. RTR!

The real physical test of this game will be the LSU fullbacks against the Alabama linebackers.  We should know early if they can block Hightower (right, go ahead and try) and Upshaw.  Look for lots of prodding the middle and slamming runs off tackle early by LSU.  If they can't win there, they're screwed.

Similarly, our O-line must get a push and open holes for TR.  Enjoy the show, folks.

QB/Bama must vary the snap count to make sure the OL has the advantage over the DL.

I have been going to the different threads and handing these out. We don't need to peak before Saturday night!

Absolutely.  I think we have not done a good job of this in some of the other games.  There were times when the D was firing off as quick as the O.

They seem to be bringing AJ on a little at a time. Adding more to his repertoire as time goes. I imagine that includes things we have not yet seen, but will be added when they become "second nature" and he doesn't have to think about them.

I have been real impressed with what he has accomplished. He is the leading QB in the best conference in the country.  They have also taken good care of him. Rarely does he "run for his life". The varied snap count would let him help himself to buy more time. Our "OL"  may be the key Saturday.

I can't help but think what may have been, had Aaron Douglas not died. Sad

I wonder if AJ picks the snap count in the huddle and just forgot to change it up earlier in the year?
