This was (I think before Nutt dismissed the 4 players) the incident happened...they should have waited, before a more detailed assessment was made. I should change my score on that 'other' thread... Embarrassed

"Alabama at Mississippi: To make sure Alabama's players are appropriately dressed for Saturday's visit to Ole Miss and The Grove, T-Town Menswear is giving a 100 percent discount on all merchandise accompanied by a player's autograph. In other words: it's business as usual. Alabama -25"

Who is this brett butthead? Is he a barner or something? He certainly don’t mind pulling his pants down and showing his jealousy....and ignorance.

From the misleading stats, make figures say anything department:

Quote
So while the non-conference records of the Big 12 (27-3) and SEC (29-4) are nearly identical, looking closer at the opponents of each league shows the Big 12 actually has been the most dominating league in non-conference play.

Of the Big 12's 30 non-conference games, they were favored in 23, winning 22. More impressive was the Big 12's 5-2 record in non-conference games as an underdog through Saturday. By comparison, the SEC is only 2-3 in the non-conference games in which it was an underdog.

The much maligned Big East actually had the third-most success in non-conference games as an underdog, pulling off three upsets in 11 games as an underdog. The Big Ten was next, going 2-6 as an underdog in non-conference games.

Too much trouble to go back and check to see exactly which games the SEC was the dog in, as to OOC play. But here is the deal. The lines are watched and are much closer in higher ranked, bigger draw games, than in games involving #23, #24, and #25. There is almost an undiscernible difference in games involving teams ranked in the top 16-30, than with teams ranked #1 thru #15. Also, and I'll explain as best I can, these no defense/scoring circus football games are hard to set lines on. The SEC style (in most seasons) of balanced attack/"D" heavy teams, usually win out but can sometimes be upset by a (Garcia) miracle game at throwing and catching.

But you most of all, have to add in that an OOC game by say, Arkansas, that just happens to follow a general beating by LSU or Alabama, will greatly affect the outcome. There also seems to be truth to the hypothesis that a team playing Bama or Florida, or even Arky, is a once in a lifetime opportunity for these non-conf opponents-- they play over their heads.

The SEC OOC schedule does not have to include a bunch of Top 10 teams to gain credibity. The regular confence games provide that.
