USCe QB Stephen Garcia dismissed from team

Bama has had some players with personal issues since CNS has been here, Hall (linebacker) and Johns just to name a couple. CNS could have thrown them under the bus way before they left Bama but he chose to give them a chance to turn themselves around. Neither did but they had a chance to.

There have been others just this year, Sentimore and Greene that chose to transfer to another school, but they were given every possible chance to get their acts together and play on this team.

There will always be players with self or team discipline issues but some never mature enough to right the ship before it sinks.

So this happened last week, huh?  Did anybody else notice that he was not dismissed from the team until after they saw how Shaw would do as the starter.  I bet you an E-Cred that if Shaw had stunk up the place Garcia would still be on the team.  The only reason he wasn't dismissed after the 1st or 2nd offense was because they didn't have anybody else remotely ready to step in.

I agree with SC. I really believe Spurrier was watching how the 2nd string player did. He, Spurrier, has always wanted to be right in everything. This time his choices was wrong and now he must take his the blame. RTR!

SC fans are for the most part good sports, love their team, and if truthful hope that CSS hangs em up after this yr.  They do not deserve this drama.

Two major issues here.

1.  Spurrier stuck with Garcia for a long time.  Spurrier was a party animal in college too.  He probably knew what Garcia was going through.

2.  Garcia needs prayers now.

I'm sure the University did offer Garcia professional help and probably got him some, but I don't care how much is offered or given to some one in that kind of need, if they don't want to help themselves no one else can help them.

Bingo. I just hope that getting kicked off the team will be a wake up call for this young man to hopefully get the help he obviously needs. Otherwise, I have a bad feeling we are going to be seeing a tragic end to his story.

I don't think you can blame Spurrier without knowing the whole story.  Clearly the kid has a drinking problem.  Can't blame Spurrier for that.  Kicking him off the team earlier likely would not have caused him to stop drinking, it probably would have made it worse.  Perhaps Spurrier should have kicked him off the team sooner, but that's gotta be a tough call for any coach.  Likely he hated to see this kid waste his life.  Maybe he thought putting Garcia on a short leash would encourage him to clean up his act, and maybe it did for a short time.   But this is a problem of Garcia's own making, and Garcia has to take fully responsibility for his acts.

I'll bet you an e-cred... Tests, usually take a week to come back.  Timing was awful, but if he didn't fulfill his end of the bagain it's the only thing you can really do.  I appreciate Garcia for what he's done for the University of South Carolina.  I wish him the absolute best.

Y'all don't always have to be so negative about other programs... I come here because I enjoy the people and usually receive the same respect that I give.  I may make a sarcastic statement, occasionally but am very respectful of y'alls program.  Not saying  I want your website to be "SC" friendly, just know when to shut up and not be so judgemental.
