Don Sutton died today

I got an ESPN notification about that earlier.  He still holds a few Dodgers records.  RIP, to the Hall of Famer.

Watched him pitch for the Dodgers, another reason I hated the Dodgers.

I loved his work as an announcer for the Braves. He was great. He grew up near Pensacola and went to Tate High School. They still crank out good ball players.

Sutton won 324 games and recorded 3574 strikeouts.  Kinda doubt we see those kinds of numbers again.  When he came up he was in the Dodger rotation with Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale and one other guy that I can't remember.

I believe the only game Don Sutton ever lost as a high school pitcher was a 1-0 loss.  And I believe the opposing pitcher was a fella by the name of Kenny Stabler.   That may not be a true story, but I heard someone tell it on Finebaum or another sports talk show a few years ago when Stabler passed away.

Another stat I haven't fact checked but saw someone post on Twitter an hour or so ago...

Don Sutton had a record 201 career quality starts in which he didn't earn a victory.  He was 0-98 with a 2.40 ERA and 103 no decisions in those starts.

That's nuts.   Shame on the Dodgers for poor run support.
