The game starts at 1pm on ESPNU. WKU has a history of good BB teams. Players can not relax. I’ll be channel switching between them, A&M/Tennessee football, and other interesting games.

As you may or may not know, our old rival from Starkville, Rick Stansbury, is the current head coach of the Hilltoppers. This will actually be his fifth year in Bowling Green, KY. The only time he has failed to win 20+ games in a season there was his first year rebuilding the program. They are 5-2 this season despite playing one of the toughest schedules anybody in the country has faced. The ‘Toppers have wins over Northern Iowa, Memphis, and Rhode Island, with their only two losses coming to the hands of ranked opponents West Virginia and Louisville. Simply put: these guys can really play.

Stansbury is a good coach & probably a cheater.

Once again, we face a team with 4 starting seniors and a very good big man. At 6’11”, Bassey who scores, rebounds, and blocks 4 shots a game. We better hit our 3 pointers or we could be in deep trouble.

We are hustling on defense but we are changing our shots near basket due to their big man. 14-10 WKU. Bassey already has 10 points.

Defense is saving us right now. Tide has caused 2 shot clock violations & 2 quick steals for points. Just caused a walk, now 16 all.

Tide has 11 points off turnovers which is keeping us in the game right now. WKU has taken only 3 3 pointers. We have taken 11.

Need to drive to the basket and see if we can get their big man in foul trouble. Tide looking better. Still good hustle and motion by players. We’re 2/14 in 3 pointers, 14%.

WKU has 11 steals on us. Way unacceptable. Petty & Jones playing good defense. Still good hustle by Tide.

We’re 7/26 in 3 pointers, 27%. That’s the ball game if we lose. 15/20 FT 75% which has helped us. Bruner is a pleasant surprise with 16 points and 5/9 FG for Tide. 67-67. Shackleford hits FT, 68-67 Tide. Jones tips in a shot, Tide 70-67.

Jones misses easy lay off due to presence of their big man. That miss may come back to haunt us. Petty shooting FT, hit 1/2, 71 all. We have missed out on 3 points very late in game. Not a good omen.

Tide loses 73-71 with Tide blowing multiple chances with at least 4 or 5 easy lay-ups missed in the game. We should have won this game.
