I'd like to introduce you to the Najee Harris you don’t know, and it begins with a beautiful 16-year-old named Annie Allen.
If you are looking for a true warrior, you needn’t look further than Annie Allen. The daughter of Barry Allen and Carla McLendon Allen has Caudal Regression Syndrome. Among Annie's challenges? Kidney disease that sends her to Children's of Alabama three times a week with a smile on her face. That's right, even while receiving dialysis, Annie is smiling, as she lights up the room with her spirit and grace.
Annie is non-verbal, but she knows what she likes and what she doesn't like, and she LOVES the Crimson Tide. Three days ago, little did Annie know that she would be given yet another reason to love the The University of Alabama
Valley View Baptist Church began filling up quickly last Friday night, as over 250 teens and young adults with special needs arrived to enjoy the annual "Night To Shine", one of hundreds of such events held around the world, a movement created by Tim Tebow and the Tim Tebow Foundation that has spread to 720 churches on all 50 states and 34 countries.
Then it happened: As Annie, along with her friends, escorts and parents settled in, he strolled casually through the crowd, offering hugs and encouragement. Yes, Alabama Football running back Najee Harris had arrived. You mean, THE Najee Harris? The young man who jumps over tacklers and dives into end zones? THE Najee Harris? The young man who strikes fear in opposing defenses? THE Najee Harris? The running back whose muscles and long hair often make him look mean and menacing?
Those in attendance were quickly put at ease, as they soon found out that while Najee breathes crimson, his heart breathes gold. You see, Najee wasn't there for a quick photo op: The big, bad, fierce running back was in attendance from start to finish, enjoying every hug as much as a touchdown run.
Oh, Najee wasn't the only University of Alabama Athletics student-athlete on hand, as many from other sports mingled with the guests. Yet it was Najee Harris, the football star who plays one of the toughest sports ever, showing his softer side with an infectious charm.
As the night drew to a close, Annie Allen and her friends were grateful that they had a chance to meet a big-time star. But you know something? I have a feeling that Najee was even more grateful for having the opportunity to meet such wonderful warriors- warriors like Annie Allen.
And now you know Najee Harris.

I suddenly need to call the building custodians.  Seems to be a lot of dust in here and some of it got into my eyes...

Funny how these things work. I bet Najee got just as must joy meeting these less fortunate kids as they did meeting him.

Good story.
