Well, here we go. A gigantic challenge. Stephen F Austin beat #1 Duke yesterday as a 27 point dog, so it can happen. If we have 20 turnovers we will be toast. Game starts at 1:30 pm. Gotta the a shower now after working out.

Petty has to come out of hibernation and score 15-22 points (or more), we can not have 18 or more turnovers/steals, must hit our FT’s like 75% or more. Plus, we need scoring from someone like Shackelford to score 15 or more.

UNC gets 2 off. rebounds but misses shots. Petty steals ball and misses shot. 0-3 FG and somewhat sloppy right now. Both teams look sloppy.

Davis is a force inside for us with rebounds. UNC 3-0 on open 3 shot. Tide hustling so far but loses ball to UNC. Jones misses on dunk, and his 3 miss under or near the basket.

Jones scores near basket. Must of heard me talking about him. 7-2 UNC. Tide still hustling and is missing easy shots. They are getting shots near the rim, just have to convert them.

UNC does not look invincible. We have taken numerous shots around the basket. They look sloppy, too. 7-4 UNC after 6 minutes of first half. Smith in foul trouble with 2 fouls. 9-4 UNC. We are 2/13 FG, 11-4 UNC.

Petty hits 3, then UNC shot blocked but we make lazy pass for UNC to run and score easily, another 3 by Petty then Lewis steal ball and scores, 13-12 UNC.

Both teams playing in a frenetic pace and making mistakes.15-12 UNC. Timeout. Tide defense looks pretty good but losing Smith is hurting us on the boards.UNC 16 rebounds, Tide 8.

Bolden (transfer from WV) hits 3 then UNC scores, 17-15 UNC. Reese gets rebound then puts it in for 2, 17 all. UNC scores we miss shot then UNC drives and gets fouled. 19-17 UNC

22-17 UNC, Tide timeout. Reese just ain’t cutting it and he did nothing against the last 2 games we have played.

Petty hits a 3, then Lewis gets a lay-up but UNC scores, too. UNC 26-22 with 5:53 left in half. Peyy has 9. Jones misses at least 5 shot within 5 feet of basket. UNC 28-22. Third foul on Smith. Didn’t know he was back in game. We gambled and lost. UNC 30-22.

Petty hits another 3 then UNC charges so we have ball back then Jones lays it up. 30-27 UNC. The key is don’t get way behind in the first half, don’t be 15 points down then spend 2nd half chasing the other team.

Bama hanging in there. UNC leads 30-27 with 4:00 to play in 1st half. We are getting killed on the boards.

PETTY 3! 30 ALL. UNC hits 3, 33-30 UNC. Now 35-30 UNC. Turnover by Jones but Reese rebounds UNC shot. Don’t lose your focus before the half and keep score close is key now. Reese fouled, hard. Can’t shoot his FT, so UNC coach can pick shooter and he picks Jones who is lousy FT shooter. Jones meets his expectations and hits 1/2 FT. 35-31 UNC.

Reese has to go to locker room with his shoulder hurt where he fell on it from foul. UNC hits FT, 37-31 UNC. Good rebound by Tide, missed shot but steal from UNC. Tide blows chance to make last shot but ends up fouling for his 3rd fouls 6 seconds before half. 36-31 UNC HALF
