Outrageous blown call.  But can you imagine the SEC taking this kind of action with a ref, in public and on-the-record?  Not sure I can.

The whole crew from the LSU-Bama game should have been for the horrible completion call that led to one of their MANY TDs.

Oh, you mean the one at the 1 yardline where the WR stepped out of bounds then brought his foot back in and caught the ball (being the first to touch the ball)?  Yeah, that call was bad but even worse, it was upheld after review...  Banging your head against the wall.

Apparently there was no ruling during the play that the receiver went out of bounds on his own, so that aspect was not subject to review.     Huh?

I'll respectfully challenge that interpretation, and here's why.  I remember a Bama- Ole Miss game played in Oxford maybe 10 years ago. ( I think JPW was Bama QB.} An OM receiver went out of bounds, came back in and caught a long TD pass.  The refs missed that the OM guy stepped out of bounds, but CNS did not. (The play was on the Bama side of the field.)  CNS challenged the call and upon review it was reversed, i.e. the OM guy was ruled to be an ineligible receiver and the TD didn't count.

I don't see any difference in that call and the play in the LSU game.  I think the SEC refs blew the call on the field (which could be understandable since it was a subtle step OB), and then the replay refs blew it again.  I hope Bama makes a stink with the SEC.  This call was a factor in the game.

If I came out that the SEC blew the call, it would taint LSU's win a bit.  I'd take that.

HUGE DIFFERENCE.  He went OB, then stepped back in.  He was ineligible to be "the first player to touch the ball", BUT our DB tipped the pass.  Because it was tipped, it was the right call.  And it was an excellent pass and excellent catch.

Chech, you're the only person that said the pass was tipped that I've heard of. Their explanation was that there was no evidence to overturn that he was forced out. There was hand fighting between the two, but he was not forced out.

Who supposedly tipped the ball?

I think Chech is on the Redball/Redbull/Redsomethingorother... I watched the Bama DB's hand very carefully to see if he tipped the ball.  He didn't!   I'm sure when he sobers up he will watch the play again and agree with us...
