A review of recent research concludes eating red meat may not be as bad as once thought. But not all experts agree.

The studies published in the Annals of Internal Medicine conclude there's little to no effects from eating meat on illnesses like heart disease, cancer or diabetes. The controversial study also recommends consumers who eat as much as four servings a week can continue to do so...

I know.  LF isn't going to welcome this news.  She had me eating Thai noodles last night.

I don't think the medical community wants to admit how much health simply comes down to genetics.  It could possibly be bad for business.

Well I eat eggs, and chicken as much as possible with vegetables thrown in. I don't eat a lot of red meat simply because it cost to much. RTR!

Eating healthy can indeed be expensive, Ricky.  Dried beans are a good, healthy source of protein that is affordable.  They also act as a propellant a few hours later.

We had stir-fry vegetables tonight.
I don't think LF is taking the news very well.

There's a good bit of truth in that, genetics.  Diet and exercise are also important.  Pills and procedures are a last resort.

Not everyone is the same.  Again, genetics play a role.  Some folks may be perfectly fine eating meat, whereas others could have health consequences.  So that most studies based on statistical models will find adverse consequences with meat consumption because a portion of the population is impacted.

Unfortunately, I probably fall into the impacted category, based on ancestry life span and health.  So I do have to be careful.

And no, I did not stay at a Holiday Inn last night.  But my younger brother is a gastroenterologist and diet/nutrition medical doctor.

Glad to hear it.  Up to now we've had to depend on 2's expertise on colonoscopies and polyps.  Is he a real doctor, or did he stay at a Holiday Inn??  Hopefully not the one in Lincoln NEBRASKA.

I don't eat a lot of red meat but I would like to.  Most of the time when I do it is hamburgers or a pasta dish with hamburger in it.  I eat more chicken than anything.  In fact, I eat so much chicken I should have been a preacher.  No offense Preacher...  Wink  But it is cheaper and it tastes good...
