Glad to hear it.  Up to now we've had to depend on 2's expertise on colonoscopies and polyps.  Is he a real doctor, or did he stay at a Holiday Inn??  Hopefully not the one in Lincoln NEBRASKA.

Yes, he's technically a pediatric gastroenterologist.  He did a residency in pediatric medicine after med school, and then went back for three more years at UAB med school under a fellowship.  He's published in this area, nutrition studies.  He has a bumper sticker that says, "Stool is cool."

Good to know.  Runt was diagnosed almost 3 years ago with Ulcerative Colitis.  Currently he is on a schedule of Remicade infusions every 8 weeks.  If it gets to the point where it isn't being as effective as it currently is I may get with you to possibly get a 3rd opinion from him...  Maybe???

Wow, he's awfully young for UC.  My ex had it, opted for a colectomy and j pouch surgery. Dr. Golzarian in Huntsville performed it.  He was the only one who could perform it laparoscopic in Huntsville.

Unfortunately, my brother practices medicine in the Seattle area now.  But one of the top places in the country for pediatric gastroenterology is UAB, which is why my brother went there for his specialization.  I can see if he has a physician recommendation from there -- but it's been a few decades.  I don't think there are any pediatric gastroenterologists in the Huntsville area.

Best of luck to you.  I know it's a hard road.

There is one that I know of.  His name is Dr. Randall McClellan.  We really like him.  He referred us to UAB Children's for a 2nd opinion before we started Runt on Remicade.  Their cost is way too high so we came back to Huntsville to let Dr. McClellan administer his treatment.

I can tell you first hand; laparoscopic is the way to go, if it comes to this, NALT.
