I taped it, watched the first half last night, then saw the remainder this morning.

 Stop Stop Stop Stop Stop

Stop reading if you don't want the final score, etc.

BTW, the head ref might have been 90 years old.  And the refs in general were blind!  They missed a lot.

The game was about even at halftime (21-20 St Johns), thanks mostly to big plays by St Johns.  But the second half looked like Big-12 football: no defense.  The wide receivers for Mater Dei ran wide open, and Bryce Young found them.  He's definitely a talent, but it's very much HIGH SCHOOL.

BTW, if there is a criticism of Bryce Young it has to do with his scrambling.  I've only seen this game, but he was not impressive avoiding the rush.  He was sacked several times, and probably had negative yards rushing.  Not especially quick, but maybe he's speedy once he gets going.

I'm very happy to have him not run, but I'm talking about ability (not high-school stats).

The announcers talked about Bryce Young playing at Alabama.  They said he will be an early enrollee at Alabama (start next January).  They suggested that he should compete well as a starter next fall.

 Stars

Never know, but he looks pretty raw now.  He holds the ball loosely when scrambling, has been taught in an undisciplined system (he calls many of his own plays), and is used to wide-open receivers.

But no denying he's a talent.  Glad to have him at Alabama!

At the beginning of the game, they announced that the refs and both head coaches were all in their 70s.  (Not quite 90).

Agree about Bryce Young --  has raw talent but not ready for the college game.

Chech is right, the ref looked 90. I believe they had an assistant dedicated to following him around with a defibrillator.

I agree with you, he's a high school qb, got a ways to go.
