I thought we looked good at times. We built a nice lead early in the first half and the game was never in doubt. Playing with a 20 point lead we got sloppy. This was a game we were supposed to win easily and we did. Could have been worse but CAJ did not want to beat his alma mater too bad.
A small crowd, which didn’t equal the announced figure of 9,793, witnessed Alabama senior forward Donta Hall score 20 points and sophomore guard John Petty Jr. tally 17 more as the Tide put away the Jaguars in a game that wasn’t competitive for the final 27 minutes.
Although the Tide committed 20 turnovers and converted only 19 of its 28 free-throw attempts, it made 49 percent of its shots from the field and demonstrated a level of cohesiveness that should inspire some confidence going forward.
“I thought we had some moments where, independent of who we were playing, that’s what the mission was, that was what we value on offense, that’s what we were trying to accomplish,” head coach Avery Johnson said.
