I know there is an all-sports thread on the board but I want to talk specifically about the Atlanta Braves. They are leading the Eastern Division of the NL. They have been a huge surprise all year, with timely hitting, solid pitching especially from the starters and decent Bullpen relief, most of the time. Their team stats are awesome:
NL Team Stats-Atlanta
1st Batting Average
2nd Runs Scored
1st Doubles (a sign of power & speed)
7th Home Runs
2nd RBI
6th ERA
8th Saves
15th Walks Allowed (MOST ALLOWED!)5th Runs Allowed (5th lowest)
These stats give a good all around indication of the Braves performance this year. Without a complete collapse, they will win their division. In the National League, both the Cubs & Dodgers have returned from the baseball graveyard after slow starts and may make the playoffs, too. Overall though, the NL looks totally overmatched by AL teams like the Red Sox, Yanks, & Astros. Interesting playoffs are coming to MLB.
