I didn't think sisters were allowed to DO the bobblehead.

Not all nuns were created equal.

Preacher's aunt, Sister Jean, packed out a news conference today and promotes her upcoming boxing match:

Quote
SAN ANTONIO -- Sister Jean Dolores Schmidt, the face of Loyola-Chicago's miraculous run through the NCAA tournament, says the entire experience feels surreal.

"I think to myself, 'Oh my, don't let it go to your head,'" she said. "I haven't done that, nor has the team. The team, those young men, are very humble."

The 98-year-old nun, international icon and Loyola-Chicago chaplain held a news conference at the Final Four on Good Friday that was so packed, officials had to clear a path for her to enter. Outlets from around the country filled every seat, dozens of cameras were posted in the back of the room, and reporters lined the walls as she spoke.

Sister Jean said she has never had more fun. She talked about the interviews she has done from the Chicago campus that have been broadcast around the world and discussed the swell of new fans and the media frenzy.

And she said she looks forward to meeting Mary Belle Hicks -- a die-hard Michigan fan and 100-year-old grandmother of former Wolverines star Jalen Rose -- who predicted the end of Loyola-Chicago's run when the Ramblers face Michigan on Saturday.

"I saw her on Facebook the other day," Sister Jean said. "I also heard she said she's out to get me. We'll see. Somebody said, 'Maybe you need a pair of boxing gloves.' And I said, 'Well, we'll see what happens.' I hope we see each other. I hope we meet there. I love to meet people."

Mary Belle has the experience by a couple of years, but I think Sister Jean can take her.

Villanova ran out to a quick 18 point lead and kept the score near that range for the rest of the game, completely blowing out Kansas and winning by 16 points.  Every one of Nova's games in the Tournament have been won by double digits, including the Bama game, where Bama played Nova even till halftime (minus Nova's last second 3 pointer before half) but couldn't keep up in the second half.

Loyola had a 7 point lead at half but went stone cold against a surging Michigan team.

The Nova pickers, ricky, me and MD, are now 1, 2 and 3 in the bracket challenge, and that won't change, although the margins should increase as I anticipate another lopsided victory for Villanova.

Congrats to ricky.   Applause E-Cred

Congrats Preacher.

Kansas gave me hope of winning the bracket challenge until the first minute of the Villanova game.

Villanova is very good. They have the best shooting team I have seen. Even their big guys shoot the three well. I think us giving them a game for one full half is better than anyone else in the tournament did. We could not have had a more difficult second round opponent. We need to not just make the tournament next year, we need to get out of the 8/9 seat. We need to get to the 4-6 seat to have a good chance of reaching the Sweet 16 and beyond.

Had we been the 9 seed on the other side of the bracket with Virginia, there is a decent chance we would have made a deep run, possibly all the way to being the Villanova sacrificial lamb in the finals instead of the 2nd round.

Our toughest game probably would have been a rematch with UK in the Sweet 16, but with Donta Hall back I like our chances.  The tall Sudanese guy Gabriel that clobbered us in the SEC tourney was pretty cold against the 9 seed Kansas State when they played on that side of the bracket.  He was 7-7 for 3 pointers against us but 0-2 against Kansas State.  CAJ said that Donta would have guarded that guy had he played that day.

We would have faced 8 Creighton, 16 UMBC, 5 Kentucky, 11 Loyola-Chicago, and 3 Michigan before getting slautered by Villanova in the finals, if we made it that far.  Had we made it past UK, Loyola or Michigan may have knocked us out.  You don't get that far in the tournament without some ability, but I think we would have made a respectable showing at least.  There is not a big gap between us and those teams, if any.  Now, we are not even close to the level that this incarnation of Villanova is playing at, but neither was the rest of the field.

In other words, #buckleup.
