What I don't understand about the softball team is that we have 3 and 4 year starters whose batting average is 100 points less than when they were freshmen, Grantham, Dykes, and Turner and maybe others. You could probably put 75% of the team in this category. Where is the player development? Who is the hitting coach? looks like somebody needs a kick in the pants.

I've wondered that myself, especially about Turner.  I wonder how much of it simply resides with the fact that the SEC as a whole is much better than 3 years ago.

You are right, Leewillie. That may be forthcoming. That kick may be a hard one.

Well, when you watch them bat, each player has these stupid idiosyncrasies like aiming the bat at the pitcher, or spreading their legs a ridiculous width, or trying to slap at the ball while running toward first base.  It's clear they are a bunch of separate players, not a team.

Did you see this women's tennis news?

Arkansas ...needed six more wins ... to become eligible for NCAA tennis tournament consideration. The NCAA stipulates any team receiving an at-large berth into the national tournament must have a .500 record against Division I opponents.

That's where Tenn State University came into the picture.  The Tigers agreed to play the Razorbacks six (6) times this past ...Sunday.

Arky paid TSU $15,000 to play the matches.  TSU lost all six (6) matches, all in one (1) day, so now Arky qualifies for the tournament.

The baseball team won 4-3 over the mighty men of Troy.

Better than #1 Florida.  They lost to Mercer.

Well, when you watch them bat, each player has these stupid idiosyncrasies like aiming the bat at the pitcher, or spreading their legs a ridiculous width, or trying to slap at the ball while running toward first base.  It's clear they are a bunch of separate players, not a team.

 

In my experience, most women's college softball players bat like this, except for the few players who can actually hit.  Bama just seems to have a larger share of them lately.  It's frustrating to watch.

We will make the NCAA Tournament. We could even host a Regional. If the Tournament was today we most likely would be a 2 Seed. We have a 27-15 record ranked 18th in this week's polls with a 17 RPI.

Our program has slipped but it is far from dead and missing the Tournament.

Note: 11 SEC teams are in this week's Top 25.
