Softball wins two games Saturday to improve to 6-0 on the young season.

Baseball wins Game Two with a 9th inning walk off 6-5 win over Valpo.

Two out of three ain't bad. Did the softball team play today?

Softball fell to the 11th-ranked Baylor Bears this afternoon.  Osorio gave up two runs in the first inning, and Bama was never able to even it up.  A solo HR by Tow in the 3rd inning was Bama's lone run.

Bama stranded a run on 3rd in the 6th inning, and had runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out in the last frame, but couldn't bring them in.

Bama is now 6-1 on the year.  Baylor's ace is a looker, and a lover of puppies.

Baseball swept Valpo today with a 12-6 Game Three win. We start the season off 3-0.

Now that is a great start with a new coach and not knowing the players really well. RTR!

Women’s basketetball just beat Auburn 70-60.

I watched the last 10 minutes of the game. Kristy Curry's got something going on at Bama. Great win for the ladies.

Hopefully that's only the FIRST time we beat Auburn this week! 

The ladies are 7-7 in a pretty conference this year.  Definitely a big improvement over the last 15 years.

Yessir.  The Men's team plays at Auburn on Wednesday night.

Well, I wanted a second win over Auburn this week, and the GymTide gave them a jolly good rogering this evening scoring a season high 197.300.  Not what I had in mind, but I will celebrate any win over Auburn.

The softball team won a couple today, including a shutout of #9 FSU.  Osorio pitched a 3-hitter and struck out 10.

Baseball won both games of a double header with Washington State 12-4 and 8-2. Impressive 6-0 start for first year Coach Bohanon.

Congrats to all the ladies and the baseball team. What a difference a year makes for the baseball team. This time last year, we were getting beat by the Oral Roberts and Presbyterians. I know our true test will be against SEC teams, but so far, this is good to see. Much better than last year.

I am going to the Arkansas game today which is at 5:00. I am going to try and get there by noon so we can tour the Bryant Museum and catch a few innings of the baseball game.

Baseball beat Wash State 9-3 to get the series sweep and stay unbeaten at 7-0. I am not sure how good Valpo and WSU are but we are playing well and hitting the ball hard. We are off to the best start of a season since 2010.

Softball split yesterday beating Northern Iowa 11-3 in 6 innings and losing to FSU 3-1. The ladies are 9-2 on the year.

Those two scores though is still a nice way to start the year. The girls will get better. RTR!

Women’s Basketball lost a heartbreaker at #24 LSU 79-78 in OT.

Quite a crazy game.  Bama was down by 15 at one point and hand managed to take a 2 point lead with 3.5 seconds left.  LSU scored to send it to OT, and then barely edged us in OT.

Good job ladies your day is ahead. RTR!

Men's Indoor Track wins the SEC for the first time since 1972.

Baseball wins two mid-week games beating Samford 13-3 on Tuesday and Alabama State 11-1 this afternoon. They are off to a 9-0 start. All games have been at home except samford that was in B'ham. Things get tougher this weekend as we travel to Norman to play a three game series with Oklahoma.

Softball beat UAB on Tuesday 4-0 on Tuesday in B'ham. They are 10-2.

They have a fun trip coming up this weekend when they travel to Seattle, WA to play 5 games including two against #1 Washington.

Bama ballball beat Alabama State 11-1 to improve to 9-0. JUCO Junior Mason Duke got his first start of the year, throwing 5 innings of one hit ball.

Keith Holcombe got the night off.

The women's basketball team made a quick exit in the SEC tournament, losing to a mediocre-at-best Kentucky team today.

What happen to the women I thought they were improving? RTR!

Baseball went on the road to Oklahoma and lost their first game of the year 2-1 in 11 innings. Keith Holcombe continues to swing a hot bat collecting two of our 5 hits and getting our only RBI. The two teams play again this afternoon and the final game of a three game series tomorrow.

I hate all things Oklahoma. I hope we stomp the crap out of them today.

JT started today at even par. He is -7 through 13 holes today.  :o

In positive news, Tuscaloosa is about to come into a windfall hosting an NIT game.  It's sure to bring dozens into town.

Saturday was a tough day for Bama sports.

Baseball lost Game Two to Oklahoma 16-4. This one spiraled out of control. We got down 3-0 and scored a run to make it 3-1. The Sooners scored 5 in one inning to make it 8-1. We got 3 runs in the top half of the 8th to pull to 8-4 before Oklahoma scored 8 in the bottom 8th. Walters took the lost. This was our first bad game of the year. We are now 9-2. We try to avoid the sweep this afternoon.

Softball beat Portland State 3-0. Preston and Osorio combined for the shutout. In the second game Washington beat us 4-1. Gettins took the loss in pitching a complete game.

Basketball lost their 5th straight in a loss to Texas A&M 68-66. We finish the regular season 17-14 and 8-10. We go to the SEC Tournament needing something good to happen. Five games ago we were 17-9 (8-5) and looking like a tournament team. Right now we look like a one and done NIT team. CAJ has got some work to do. He is now officially on the Hot Seat for next year.

He just doesn't seem to get the credit he deserves. The networks have their favorites. JT may seems to be at the tail end of the ones they promote. He has dominated the tour the last year and a half.

Rough weekend for softball. The ladies get beat 4-0 by Northwestern. They need to get home and regroup. They fall to 12-5 on the season.

If I had one knack on him, he has bad body language.  Sometimes it makes him look like he's got a not-so-great personality and blames the course/other things for anything that goes wrong.  Maybe they don't think he's as camera friendly as some of the others.

Five pitchers combine for a 2 hit shutout of #15 Southern Miss. Bama won 3-0 improving their record to 11-2. This is a quality mid-week win.

New Mexico comes to Tuscaloosa this weekend.

I saw the score on the SECNetwork streamer last night. A good win indeed, for the baseball team. Maybe we've got something this year. What a difference a change in coaches can make.

I think we will find out how good/bad the baseball team is once they open up SEC play next Friday.  Hopefully they will do well this year...

Friday Results:

Baseball split a DH with New Mexico losing the opener 3-0 and winning the 2nd game 3-1.

Softball beat Boston College 5-0 and Fordham 4-3. In the BC game Osirio pitched her 7th no hitter and HC Patrick Murphy won his 1000th game.

Gymnastics beat auburn....again. This was a special charity event in Huntsville.

Yeah, it was a good day overall for Bama sports, especially the basketball and gymnastic teams. Both of them beat Auburn and that always makes for a good day. I sure would like to see Bama bounce Kentucky today.

I believe this can be done if we go out and have fun. Moving the ball and taking those outside shots. RTR!

Baseball won Game Three beating New Mexico St 5-2. Bama wins the series.

Osorio gave up a 2 run homer in the first, then struck out 21. Bama beat Fordham 7-2.  #+

Striking out 21 tied an NCAA record for a 7 inning game. For those like me bad at Math there are only 21 outs in a 7 inning game.

Bama also beat Boston College yesterday 6-3.

Softball had one game today. They beat Samford 1-0.

Baseball beat Alabama A&M 15-0 in 7 innings on Tuesday. They play again today.

We are off to a 14-3 start. Things get more interesting this weekend as conference play begins. We travel to Georgia to play the dogs on Fri-Sat-Sun.

The ladies improved to 18-5 on the diamond with a 3-1 win over Georgia Tech this evening.  Madison Preston (6-1) got the win and Osorio struck out the last two batters to get a save.

We open conference play at the Smelliest Pasture on the Plains this Friday.  Our offense needs to ramp it up.  Scoring 3 runs against a mid-week starter in an OOC game doesn't bode well for facing conference aces on the weekend.  (This following a 1-0 win)

Baseball beating Alabama A&M 14-0 in the 6th. Poor A&M, we beat them 15-0 yesterday.

Tuesday Results:

Softball beat UAB at home 10-5. Softball improves to 20-7. They host Ole Miss this weekend. They are ranked 15 in one poll and 16 in the other.

Baseball lost to UAB 6-4. The game was played at Regions Park in B'ham. Bama falls to 16-6 on the year after losing three in a row. We travel to UT this weekend.

Let's hope the team can get back on track at UT. They had such a good start, but the 3 game losing streak is a bit disheartening.

Softball will have to get it done without Osorio for a while, as she has a concussion. No idea how long she will be out.

Ole Miss took 2/3 from UT last weekend.  Maybe Bama can too.

Why are we playing Auburn on a Tuesday?  That must not count in conference play unless the SEC has changed things up.  I thought all conference games were weekend 3-game sets.

Unbelievably, ND women beat UCONN in OT last night, 91-89. Will be ND vs Miss St, who beat Louisville in OT, for the Natty.

Two outstanding OT games last night.  Miss St hit a 3-pointer with about 5 seconds to go in regulation to tie their game.  They then played HORRIBLE defense and let Louisville inbound and run the court to get a lay-up AND a put back attempt in the last 5 seconds.  State got away with a foul on the lay-up attempt and Louisville just missed the put back.  State then manhandled them in OT.

We needed that win. That is our 2nd win over a top 25 team. We have been getting men on base but we have trouble getting them across the plate. Last night we had some timely hits scoring 4 runs on 11 hits. Sam Finnerty had a good start and picked up the win. Two relievers combined to pitch 3.1 innings giving up 1 hit and did not walk any.

Bama improves to 17-10 and 2-5.

The two teams play again at 2:00 CT. Jake Walters will get the start for Bama.

With a record like ours how would we get into the tourney? RTR!

To make the NCAA Tournament we need to get at or near .500 in SEC play. We will have a strong SOS so 15-15 would get us in. 13-17 will be borderline. The good news is we are playing hard and have been in every game. Much different than last year. This team could come around and do OK. Bohannon inherited a mess. Over time I think he will do well for us.

I was watching the live stats. We had to hold on for dear life to win it. Ky had 10 hits to our 2. Ours were pretty clutch.  8)

Spent Saturday afternoon at the Ole Miss - Arkansas baseball game.  Great game, won by OM 11-10.  Attendance was a loud 11,470!!

Just a word of warning, BOTH of these teams are powers.  Arkansas has an incredible lineup of batters, with only one batting below .300.  Several are at .350 or better.  They slammed home runs all day.  OM was lucky to win, aided by 2 errors.

* We are 3-5 in SEC. Last year we were 5-24-1.
* In SEC play 4 of our 5 losses are by 1 run.
* Our next three series are At Missouri, At A&M and Host Auburn
* Our top hitters are Chandler Avant .355 and Hunter Alexander .330.
* Advant leads the team in RBI with 29 followed by Chandler Taylor with 24 and       Alexander with 23.
* Taylor leads the team with 9 HR.
* Top starting pitcher are Sam Finnerty 3-1, Jake Walters 2-3. Walters had his        best outing of the year yesterday going 7.1 inning giving up only 1 run. He did not get the win since the winning grand slam was in the bottom of the 8th.

* Walters leads the team with 40 K's in 38.1 innings pitched.

Bama wins the series with a DH split today. #22 Missouri took the first game 1-0. Bama won the second game 5-1.

Bama wins their second series over a ranked opponent in two weeks. The UK series last week was at home. This series was on the road. Our record goes to 20-13 and 5-7. We now have more wins than we had all of last year and match our SEC win total from a year ago.

This team is still struggling to score runs but the pitching has been outstanding the last few weeks. I think this team is getting better and more confident.

We have UAB at home on Tuesday night before traveling to play another ranked team in Texas A&M.

Softball lost 6-1.  Osorio gave up 9 walks and 8 hits.  We could have probably played 25 innings and not scored 6 off Florida's pitcher.

Baseball beat UAB 12-3 last night at home. These mid-week games are important. just ask the barn they lost 12-3 to Samford last night.

Our record goes to 21-13. We travel to #22 A&M this weekend. Another weekend series against a ranked SEC team.

I watched a little of the TAMU-Texas game last night. They've got a good team. We could do ourselves some good with a decent showing there.

We are 5-7 in the SEC, but five of those seven loses were by one run.  To be this competitive with a substantial talent gap to most SEC teams really speaks to the job Coach Bo has done I believe.

I agree. Last year at this time, they were a dumpster fire.

Coach Bo has done a terrific job. We still need to improve offense and run production but the pitching has been outstanding. In SEC play only our pitching staff leads the league in ERA. We are getting better each week. The SEC is brutual so it does not always show up in the win column but our program is trending in the right direction.

I assume you're all following the WNBA draft live this evening.

We gave up 5 runs in the 2nd inning.  A&M is a fine team, with excellent hitting.  I'm not surprised that we lost to them.

I'm not surprised we lost, but I am surprised that they are getting that many runs against our pitching, which has been stellar all year.

They scored 9 runs against LSU in one of last-week's games.   :dunno:

A&M is a good team. I thought if we got 1 of 3 this weekend that would be good. Now we are in danger of a sweep. A&M only had 9 hits last night but scored 9 runs. Our defense has helped our pitching but this weekend they have allowed several unearned runs including 2 last night. A&M only left 5 men on base, we had 11.

A&M got the sweep this afternoon beating Alabama 3-2 with a walk off unearned run in the 11th. Bama pitching only allowed 1 earned run in the 11 inning game. We left the bases loaded in the 9th and a runner at 2nd in the 10th.

We play Samford on Tuesday, Alcorn St on Wednesday and host the barn Fri-Sat-Sun.

The softball team got shut out by Arkansas today, 3-0.  It's the first time Arkansas had beaten us since 2012, and the first time we've been shut out in conference play this year.

On top of all the Bama sports bad news yesterday, the stupid Braves blew a 10-2 lead against the Cubs and lost 14-10.  >:(

Really?  Yesterday morning, at the coffee shop, I saw a guy wearing a CUBS jacket - odd enough.  We chatted, and he said the CUBS were "terrible this year" and lost to the Braves badly (4-0) on Friday.  Guess he's happy.

Like most Bama fans, I did not pay attention to baseball, softball, or gynastics over the weekend.  I try not to be one of those fans who only follows football, but I had a busy weekend and barely got to watch three quarters of A-Day.

With that said, I'm glad I didn't watch anything else this weekend after seeing the results.   BLECH!!!  The wheels may not have fallen off a few of our programs, but the lug nuts seem to be loose.

Jamos' son asked him about the baseball team, "Dad, did they lose the keys to the batting cage?"  :lol:

Thank goodness.  Osorio had a good series.  Two complete games and only gave up 3H and 1R while striking out 21.  Unfortunately we only managed to split those games.

Bama sits at an 8-10 conference record with six games to play.  With only sets against Georgia and A&M - two top 10 teams with significantly better records than us - it is highly likely that Bama will finish below .500 in conference play for the first time in the history of the program dating back to 1997 (as far as I could tell...).

The SEC has gotten much tougher, and Murphy's program has slipped down to the middle of the pack (actually lower half this year).

Retweet!  While Bama basically set the bar for the SEC back in 2012 when they won the WCWS I think Murphy has settled in to a somewhat comfortable niche and he doesn't seem willing to recruit and coach the girls up to the same level.  He needs to step up the program and get us back to being in contention for the SEC and NCAA tourneys. 

One other significant fact about Bama softball.  We have hosted the Regional tourney for 13 straight years and this year we will have to travel if we even make the Regionals... UNACCEPTABLE!   >:(

I agree.  Our hitting has been turrible the past 2 years.  Just don't get it; everybody else in the SEC seems to have hitters with 300+ batting averages.  Ours all seem to be ~ 250.

Coach Saban continually tries to get better, to improve.  Coach Murphy apparently is resting on his laurels, and he has been left behind.   :unsure:

Murph has had his share of bad luck too, with the injury bug over the last 3 years. Traina had been injured, Osorio, D Turner, Littlejohn and then the pitcher who had to give it up because of injury, among others. Hasn't helped his cause at all.

What I don't understand about the softball team is that we have 3 and 4 year starters whose batting average is 100 points less than when they were freshmen, Grantham, Dykes, and Turner and maybe others. You could probably put 75% of the team in this category. Where is the player development? Who is the hitting coach? looks like somebody needs a kick in the pants.

I've wondered that myself, especially about Turner.  I wonder how much of it simply resides with the fact that the SEC as a whole is much better than 3 years ago.

Well, when you watch them bat, each player has these stupid idiosyncrasies like aiming the bat at the pitcher, or spreading their legs a ridiculous width, or trying to slap at the ball while running toward first base.  It's clear they are a bunch of separate players, not a team.

In my experience, most women's college softball players bat like this, except for the few players who can actually hit.  Bama just seems to have a larger share of them lately.  It's frustrating to watch.   :unsure:

We will make the NCAA Tournament. We could even host a Regional. If the Tournament was today we most likely would be a 2 Seed. We have a 27-15 record ranked 18th in this week's polls with a 17 RPI.

Our program has slipped but it is far from dead and missing the Tournament.

It really is. The baseball team has been down for a while now, but now our softball team, which has always been good, is sliding quickly. Very tough to follow, indeed.

Softball blew a 3-0 lead last night to lose 4-3.  Pitching had something to do with it, the pitcher brought in the tying run in the bottom of the 7th with a hit by pitch.   :facepalm:

On the bright side, Ole Miss came from behind to beat LSU 9-8 yesterday.  LSU had led 7-3.

Our pitching staff apparently all has dead arms.  Our lack of depth may really be catching up to us.  The increase in runs allowed per game has been staggering over the last month of the season.

I do not know if fresh arms were the reason pitching got off to such a strong start or if it was the cold weather keeping the bats from getting hot. Something is different. We were leading the SEC in ERA after four SEC series. The last few weeks Jake Walters is the only pitcher we have that is SEC caliber. He is a senior.

We have a good group coming in if MLB does not lure them away.

Yesterday was the best day on the diamonds we have had in a while. We had lost 10 straight baseball games in SEC play. The ladies are getting hot at the right time. A win today will not only get them a sweep of A&M it will even their SEC record to .500 at 12-12. A win today and a good showing in the SEC Tournament might earn them a spot to host a Regional. As the announcer said yesterday if Alabama is not a Regional host some team is going to be very disappointed to see them the #2 in their Regional. My concern is will the NCAA give the SEC over 1/2 of the 16 host spots even if they deserve it.

Bama leads aTm in softball 1-0 going into the top of the 4th.  I was hoping to listen to the game on the interwebs but the link I found for 93.3 isn't playing the softball game...

Thanks Preacher but I gave up and went outside to cut some grass (weeds).  While I was outside cutting up I decided to go ahead and cut down three trees in the back of the house.  Fortunately for the trees they were already dead.  Unfortunately for me though, one of them was a really large Dogwood tree that was absolutely beautiful each spring when it was blooming.  It was tall enough that I could see it's blooms over the top of my two-story house...

Baseball lose Game Three to Miss St 6-4. We fall below .500 on the season.

Softball got the sweep of A&M. We tie for 7th in the SEC but we get the 8 seed due to losing the head-to-head tie breaker with Arkansas. We play at approximately (will be later because it is the last game of the day) against the barn who is the 9 seed. Winner gets Florida.

Baseball beat Jax St last night 9-8.

Softball begins SEC Tournament play tonight at approximately 6:30. We play the barn. This is a single elimination format. Winner gets UF tomorrow. Mizzou is the host this year.

What about Baseball? Are we in the playoffs? RTR!

Last year when we were squarely on the bottom of the pile as well.  14th of 14.  We've won 6 conference games this year, and we only managed to win 5 last seasons.

It was a terrible loss. We were up 5-1 going into the bottom of the 8th. An error and four walks helped LSU to score 6 runs. We lost 7-5.

Speith, JT, and Tiger all squeaked past the cut with a -1 good for a billion-way tie for 68th place.

JT is -3 thru 12 today.  Speith is -4 thru 12.  Tiger just finished his front 9.  Only managed 3 pars - to go along with his 6 birdies.  6-under par on the front 9.  Yowza.

Braves were victims of a couple of bad calls.  One cost them a run at the plate and was challenged but upheld.  The video obviously showed the runner safe but Blue said "Out."  The second call came a pitch or two later at third base and again, the umpire was in perfect position to make the call but missed it anyways.  The Braves had lost their right to challenge on the previous call so they couldn't do so this time and it cost them their third out.  Should have gotten both runners home...  >:( >:( >:(

One of my friends that I talk baseball with told me this exact story via text as it was happening, so you certainly aren't the only one who saw it that way.

The way the Dodgers are playing, we aren't getting any runs close enough to the plate to have reviewed.   :'(

I am very happy for Jake Walters. He pitched a complete game shut out only allowing 4 hits with 7 K's in his final start. He is the only SEC caliber pitcher on our staff.

We are 27-28 and 8-21. A win today would be a nice end to a bad season. Getting to .500 on the season looks better even if it means nothing.

Ole Miss beat Bama in a slugfest 10-8.

Bama had two men on base in the 9th when the final out was recorded. This team was not very good but they never gave up.They finish 27-29 and 8-22. We were competitive this year but we did not know how to win. I look for Coach Bo to get us more competitive next year making the NCAA Tournament. I will not be satisfied until we are hosting regionals on a regular basis.

Auburn softball was eliminated in the Tallahassee Regional yesterday by Jacksonville State. That has to hurt.

The women's golf team will be playing Arizona for the national championship tomorrow.

Arizona came into the match play round as the last seed (8th), but they beat #1 seed UCLA to get to the finals.  Alabama is the #2 seed and considered the favorite.

Only 9 holes out of 90 have been completed, so it's extremely early.  We lead in one match with the other four being all square at this point.

(It is 5-player team match play...each of our girls plays against one of their girls one-on-one and whoever wins the most holes out of the 18 in each match wins...and then whichever team wins the most matches wins the team championship)

A little over halfway through, and Arizona leads 4-1.  One match is 3 holes with 6 to play...starting to get very critical.  A couple are at two holes, and another match is at a one-hole advantage.

The one match that we do lead is a very comfortable 4-hole lead with 7 to play.

It's coming down to the very end.  Looks like it will be 2-2 with the fifth match deciding.  It's all square with 3 holes to play. 

Abe has to win this last hole to move her match to all-square or we lose.

Alabama's Abe (pronounced AH-bay) wins the 18th hole to put her match back at all square and force a playoff!!!

Arizona wins in a one-hole playoff.  Abe missed a 6-foot birdie putt to halve the hole and keep the match going.

Washington is a great team though. They are like we use to be they are good enough to come back from being 2 or 3 runs down and winning. We use to do that. RTR!

Wow, looks like the PAC-12 is really strong in softball this year.

Now that softball is over Bama sports has ended for this school year. It will be a long summer waiting on fall practice to start and the first game. I guess I will pass the time following my favorite MLB team the Red Sox. They have the best record in MLB at 36-16. Even off to a fantastic start they have the Yankees right on their heels only 2 games back.

Men’s Golf finished stroke play in 6th place after 4 rounds. The top 8 teams advance to match play.

The Braves got their double-header in yesterday.  Won the first game 4-3 but after a rain delay they lost the last game 8-5.   >:(

They lost to the top team in the MLB though. RTR!

They lost 2 of 3 to Boston.  Yesterday's double-header was against the Mets. They play the Mets again today and then tomorrow for a four game series.

The golf team is in pretty good shape in the first round of match play.  As the 6th seed, we're matched against the 3rd-seeded Texas Tech.  Currently we have two matches in the books (both blowouts), and Tech won a match by a single stroke.  One match still out on the course is hopeless (our guy would have to win four holes in a row just to tie), but we're up by two with three holes to play in the fifth match. 

Long story short, we're looking good to pull out a 3-2 win and advance to the semifinal round.

Well crap, we just dropped a stroke.  Up by 1 with 2 holes to play. 

Shore did a really great job of recovering and getting a birdie at 17 to win the hole and the match.  His body language looked horrible walking off the 16th green.

Our first match of the semi-final round tees off at 1:30. We're matched up with #2 Duke. On the other side is #5 Auburn vs #1 Oklahoma State.

Bama and Okey Lite play match play for the Natty today.

They sure like to start it late - 2:25PM.  The women almost ran out of light using the same start time.  I guess it's for maximum recovery time after everyone played 36 yesterday.

Tough draw against the Cowboys.  The tournament is at their home course that they all play 100 times a year probably.

Okey Lite kicked our azz. We were skunked, lost all 5 matches.  :(

What is it with OK and the NCAA?  OK softball basically plays in their home town for the NCAA Championship, and the OStU golf team too?   :unsure:

Continuing on the golf theme, Tiger has a bogey and a double bogey on his first two par-5s at The Memorial.  He's +4 thru 7 holes.

Tiger managed to erase the damage over the last 11 holes and get back to even.  He's there T-36 with Justin Thomas, Fowler, DJ, McIlroy, and a whole passel of folks.  The current leader board isn't a Who's Who, but rather a Who's That?

Watching it now after playing golf today myself. Hilly course and golf path only. I’m beat.  :yawn:

Local Huntsville girl (from my kid's school), Erin Howard made it into the top ten in the National Spelling Bee for the second straight year (televised on ESPN last night).  She worked hard and deserves a big congratulations, although I know she was hoping to improve on last year's performance.  Next year, she will be in 8th grade, the last year for competitors, so she has one more shot at the title, and should be one of the favorites going in.   :clap:


Oh, and there was a basketball game last night too.  Cleveland choked at the end of regulation, and then got blown out in overtime.

When I  heard Bama lost to Samford (twice), I thought we had hit rock bottom, but they actually are a good team.  Too bad we don't have their coach and players.   :angel:

Vandy beat Clemson in a surprise yesterday.
LSU had opportunities to score early vs Oregon State (maybe the best team in the tourney), but failed.  LSU had bases loaded with no outs in 1st; didn't score.  Another doiuble play in 2nd killed that opportunity.

We're doing pretty well otherwise.  Boogers got the easiest draw, playing a Northeastern team with lots of injuries and Army (not a powerhouse).

WCWS set.  FSU v Washington. 

FSU had to beat UCLA twice on Sunday to make it in the finals.  First time for an ACC team to make it in.

I think Washington has to be the favorite.  They were ranked #1 for 9 straight weeks, had a blip (injury/illness?) where they lost 6 straight (v. WCWS teams Oregon and UCLA), but then came back strong. 

They're strong in -- pitching/defense, and scoring.  Pitching/Defense -- shut out OK twice (Bama scored 3 runs in 4 games).  Scoring -- I don't think Wash is any better than most WCWS teams in hitting; but what I've noticed is team speed on the bases.  Wash has several players who can beat out a throw to 1st on an infield roller, and make it around the bases on dinks and bunts.

They will make quick work of FSU.

My HS buddy is in town and we went to the P'cola minor league game last night. P'cola beat Biloxi 5-1. Good game and we enjoyed it.

Unfortunately, Ole Miss and Georgia both lost 2 games in a row to get knocked out of their own regionals yesterday. Who the heck is Tennessee Tech?  ???

UF, Miss St and SC advance. Also, FSU beat UW in the first game of the WCWS championship series 1-0, so I may have been a bit premature in my prediction.
