Alabama vs Memphis basketball

Okay, I watched the tape of the news.

After Memphis lost to Alabama, Channel 3 News (Memphis) concluded:

1.  Memphis played well, but had "several new players on their team".
2.  Bama played without 4 of its top 6 players due to suspension and injuries.
3.  "Tigers led early 19-13", but "Bama finished the first half strong".
4.  "Petty's 3's started a Bama run (after the game was tied at 40)".
5.  "Memphis looked like a team with 7 new players".

I watched the game. 

Nice win for an undermanned Bama team with multiple players in foul trouble.  Missing 4 top players, Bama had 8 players available for the game, and two of those sat a good bit with three fouls in the first half.  The announcer said the foul calls were legit; I felt like they were ticky tack, but I'm no expert.

Tubby Smith is coaching Memphis.  There was mention of Memphis having several Juco transfers, but I didn't pay attention to the specifics -- how many new players they have, how long has Tubby been there.  Bottom line appears to be that Memphis is in a transition period. 

Hard to make many conclusions from this one game, other than Bama doesn't suck. And it's nice to be on the winning side.

Memphis has been better lately, Preacher, after a slump.  They were 19-15 and 19-13 the past 2 years.
Not ranked this year.

Memphis hasn't been a "contender" since Coach Calipari left Memphis to coach at Kentucky.

Glad he left.  I hated watching the Memphis sports news when he was on.
You're right though; they slumped after he left.

I agree Memphis has not been a contender since Calipari left but they are still a respectable team. This was a good win and nice way to start the season.

One thing I take out of this win, no matter what state Memphis is in, is that Bama has more depth than they have had in the past.

They sure do, Coach. I really enjoyed watching Schaeffer getting in for 7 minutes and playing well. Looks like we have fewer weak links than we've had in a long time.

Listening to you guys makes me think CAJ is doing what he said he would do and may be doing it even quicker than we first thought. Building a contender and maybe winning what haven't won before. RTR!

It is nice to see us put up 82 points. We have struggled to get more than 65 per game since Grantbecame the coach. We only scored 82 or more three times last year.

Does anyone have any idea who we are recruiting in BB? Where would we find the recruiting process going on for BB? CAJ should be pursuing somebody I would thin. RTR!

Ingram pointed out the 82 points in post game interview.  He hinted between better scoring and defense Bama should be a different team this year.
